Ok smarty, you thought we were going to trade for pronger???? Did we overpay to get pronger?????? My point is trades can always be made. It's a matter of what you're willing to give up. My fear is homer (trying to save his job) trades for some old player.

We agree, trades can be made. Make a reasonable and realistic suggestion on who we can get, and who we have to give up. It's far more then a matter of what you're willing to give up.

Trading 2 players off of the current roster and a couple of prospects, and adding Subban. Is not a rebuild. It's no different from the Pronger trade. And you aren't getting Subban for that.
- MJL

Ok then you have to trade Simmer, coburn, hartnell, l schenn, stolarz and morin to get perry. So to get winger and dman look at the players needed to give up. Does that constitute a RebUild? And cheecho scored 50 one season so what. Where's he. Again sorry but if you think hartnells one really good season or checkys one shortened good season makes them Top line wingers. And just how manny pp points in those seasons? How great do they look now? Both those players are 25 g 35 asst average a year players at best. Some years a little more dome years a little less. Nice players yes but not top line. Sorry no one fears them at all. Just being realistic. I wish it were different

Let me try explaining it this way. The only way we are getting #1 dman and #1 scoring winger is to overpay with assets. So say (noT saying this is possible. Or realistic) but say we call Montreal to get subban and they agree but they want coots read cousins and ghost. We mAke the trade. NoW we have to place those players. That's how it becomes a rebuild.
- SMS4016

I would do that in a second. I dont think Montreal would accept that trade, and if they did, we wouldn't need a full rebuild to replace a couple of prospects and usual 3rd liners.

Plenty of people fear Hartnell, Simmonds, and LSchenn. They're three incredibly tough players.

you would trade all of that for Perry? good lord, talk about opening up tons of holes. its not like they are over flowing in prospects ready to step in now. I want to see this organization stay patient and build through the draft and supplement the team through free agency or trade. the scouting and development MUST improve

If we made that offer When subban was holding out last season maybe they would have taken it. Now no because he's won a Norris. When I 1st mentioned trading for subban it was just coots for subban and many posteRs on here said you don't trade a potential selke winner for subban.

That Season was not Hartnell's only good Season. He had a 30-30 Season with the Flyers in the past. Your trade suggestions, including this one for Perry, are not realistic. There is a Salary Cap in place for one thing. And trades have to fit within that to happen.
Every so called top line Winger has a breakout year. They all start somewhere. I agree that Voracek has to back it up. But don't tell me he doesn't have the ability. Because you'd be wrong about that.
How good does Giroux look now? Does that mean that he's not a first line Center? I could care less who fears them, I just care how they play.

The Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup in 2011. Their leading goal scorer was Milan Lucic, with 30 goals. He also led them in scoring with 62 points. He ranked 39th in the League in scoring.

Last year, Boston went to the Cup Finals. Their leading scorer was Brad Marchand. He was 43rd in the League in scoring.

Last year, Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos were 1-2 in the League in scoring. St Louis led the League in assists and points. Stamkos was 2nd in the League in goals. TB missed the playoffs.

I wouldn't necessarily trade all that. I was just making point that to get what we need were going to overpay and need a rebuild. Homer and Ed saying we don't need to change means same ol same ol. This team isn't bad enough to draft high enough to get those players and to keeps these players we have to pay them so free agency is out. The only way were trading is to overpay. Mostly I'm Pissed at hearing Ed say we don't have to change. He's like a Jr high kid in a fight. In the meantime we will not be seeing a cup. Fans lose.

I usually try and stick to talking hockey here, but I'm watching the evening news and I'm just beyond disgusted. Apparently the federal govt has reached out to a private charity to provide benefits to the families of troops killed in combat. So basically because of childish partisan politics our govt has decided not to provide promised benefits to the families of our fallen soldiers. Congrats Washington, you have actually sunk to a new low. How any politician from either party sleeps at night is truly a mystery to me. Everyone of them deserve a slap shot to the face!

I'll now return to talking about hockey and the Flyers and I apologize if my rant offended anyone.

They'd need to throw in their first in 2014 for me to even start thinking about that.

You've badly misread those comments by Snider. Just look at the Flyers history. Since when are they afraid to spend money, or make big trades to try and win? When Snider says they aren't going to change. He means they're going to stay aggressive to try and win. That includes overspending for a player they feel they need.

I've said it a million times so lets make it a million and one....after they finished with the worse record in the league Snider swore up and down that the Flyers would get back to the "grassroots" of the organization.....building through the draft ala the 70's and 80's team. "we will never again trade away our kids and pickS" That lasted, what, 2 yrs? I just wish they would show patience.

I really hope they avoid making a rash decision and instead show some patience. Give Berube 20-25 games before pulling the trigger on any deals.

So now coots isn't a future selke winner? A player with much more scoring ability than he has shown so far? He's not a 1st or 2nd center on other teams? So you're starting to see the picture here? He's a really good 3rd line center with dhutdown ability and some limited offensive ability. So next time I say trade a player for another player maybe not laugh like 10 months ago when I suggested trading coots ( who was on the upside) for subban ( who was falling out of favor In Montreal) Oh and I also said trade coots for voynov just for the record because I'm sure la would laugh at us now too

I agree that's what they should do. And I think they will do that. The vultures will be out and will be trying to feast on the weak. Holmgren knows that.
