Flyers barely beat Florida. - powerhouse
Whether it's by 1 or by 10, a win is still a win. Remember that when the Penguins beat Florida 2-1. |

Go over on their boards. Philly effort still not there and top line not scoring. Uner-performing. No matter how you slice it. |

Olli Maatta and Scott Harrington for years to come.
Kris Letang is still my favorite. Hope he comes to the games hungry and showing why he's a $7M+ d-man. |

I stay away from their board. They go from drafting 1st overall to winning the cup between shifts.
What I am saying is a win is a win, there is no such thing as "barely" beating a team. |

An embarrassment of riches on the blue line. That is hard to do in today's NHL. I can't wait 'til Letang gets back. I thought he was over criticized since the playoffs.
I have to give Glass his due.... He's a much improved player this year. |

Maatta is making things awfully hard for Shero. I think he does go back to Juniors. He got his taste of the league and has had success. He is just so smooth and seems like he has been in this league for a few years with some of his plays and passes. He will get a goal before he gets sent back IMO. I wouldn't be opposed though for having him stay up. There is a deal to be made off this roster regardless. I would like to dish a D man off for a pick and get some cap relief to have some room at the deadline if something is out there to be made.
I'm trying to remember who the dolt was, a visitor, that said the Pens were dissatisfied with Maatta's progress. I think it was a Flames fan. |

To the tune of Ole - Olli, Olli, Olli, Olli!!
Juicy with the HT against his former team. Got to love that. Some pretty goals tonight. Nice job by not getting rattled losing the 2-0 lead. People will warm up to Glass if he just plays a consistent game like the first three games. He's done some nice things. If he does that then it just makes the Pens that much deeper and tougher to play against. It's not hard for him to improve after last year's disaster but it's good to see him contribute even just a little. |

What not to like about Glass this year? Already a couple fights and 2 points in 3 games. I'm banking on ChrisMS prediction of comeback player of the year.
Another notables to me: Bortuzzo, Adams (speed), Neal (speed, in the pre-season), Niskanen (better decision) and Fleury (keeping it symple), Crosby (shooting a lot more this year which is good), Sutter (faster and better on FO)...this team is just on a tear.
Jokinen...just very good all around. High IQ. |

I was at the game last year where the panthers beat the pens 6-4. |

Somebody in the locker room needs to remind Geno that Adams and Glass have more goals than him. Then see what happens. |

Poor Jussi...3 goals, 2 posts and he'll be lucky to get a mention anywhere tomorrow. That kid Hertl is putting on an amazing show in S.J....4 goals(6 in 2 games) and the 4th one will be in the top 5 for the season. Between that goal, the Rags giving up 9(so far) and Nash being concussed, I wish Torts was still here in NY just for the post game tonight. |

Tomas Hertl. What a game for that kid. He's only played a handful of pro games but what he's done so far has been spectacular.
His 4th goal tonight was unbelievable.

Please. Geno has to wake up at some point. He's not been bad but we need the Super Geno on the ice some nights. Hopefully against the likes of Boston, Chicago, Washington....Philly |

Not for nothing but Geno made a pretty special play on Jokinen's second goal. He made something literally out of nothing flat footed at the blue line. |

Maatta is giving Shero some very difficult decisions to make. I just can't see him going back to juniors benefiting anybody except his junior team. He is only going to grow as a player playing in the NHL. It's time to ship Niskanen out of here. |

Agreed. I think he's already jumped over Despres on the depth chart. And I think that Nisky has already drove his trade value up significantly with his play thus far.
Though remember that Letang also made that decision hard and they still sent him back as a rookie. And that was when we didn't have nearly the defensive depth available as we do now. Maatta is going to have growing pains at some point adjusting to the NHL. Maybe early. Maybe later. But eventually.
But who knows? Maybe he sticks with the team, they move Nisky for the cap space and an extra pick or forward prospect and then rotate Bortuzzo and Maatta. And Despres might be the one that goes at the deadline this year to bring in another piece (though I'm honestly very happy with the depth and makeup of this team as it stands now and don't want to make the same mistake of changing too many pieces out for older/slower pieces that we made last year) |
