This so reminds me of all the Kadri trade talk....so the question is are we going to see a Tlusty type trade, or will Leafs management be patient. Come on Nonis, make the right call.

Uh, isn't it more like other teams are calling about him because he has not had a good start and we have some missing forwards at the moment.

Gardiner won't be traded for a stop gap to our forward situation, especially since that situation is likely to be short term.

I don't see the desparation to trade Gardiner at all. If they do have thoughts about trading him, I imagine it would be when teams may be more desparate... Philly would be a good example. They sure didn't want to trade JVR for Schenn, until desparation set it.

The Leafs are nowhere near desparate to get rid of Gardiner.

Agreed. Leafs are trading from a postion of strength, can be patient.

Someone (Holmgren/Burke) will have to overpay at this point to get him.

If Carlyle/Nonis is really serious about moving him, is he looking for a youth for youth type of deal, or someone established who can step in right away you think?

I disagree...I think the difference here is that while everyone acknowledges the talent that Gardiner has, its just that its not the type of player that Carlyle needs.

A native Canadian woman went to the market to buy some rugs for her kids (two sets of twin boys) to play on.

She ended up buying a hippopotamus rug and two bear rugs. She placed one of the older twins and one of the younger twins on the hippopotamus rug, and the other two kids on the bear rugs.

So the sons of the squaw on the hippopotamus were equal to the sons of the squaw on the other two hides.

Based off of Nonis' work so far there is no reason to think that he is going to make what I personally feel is the wrong decision and trade Gardiner at this point. That being said if someone calls with an offer we can't refuse *cough* Yakupov, it would be rude to hang up the phone

Carlyle can suck a bag of Richards

Does anyone hear actually have any evidence of Carlyle dissing Gardiner?

The same stuff was said about Kadri Colin. I spent many nights here and days here argueing the pros of Kadri...and it was met with these at many a turn :
