I see Moulson (w/out JT) as a 15-22 goal guy. The problem is I also see him as a complete defensive liability and someone that doesn't seem to excel in physical games. If Moulson is primarily a garbage man, he needs guys who constantly get the puck to the dirty areas but also can play defense. He may work out okay with Fransy, but I'd prefer Fransy not be a long term solution as our second line center either.

Point(s) taken. Maybe he wouldn't work out. Don't see much harm in giving him a shot with another center though just to be certain before cutting bait with him. He has at least proven he can be effective as an opportunistic scorer...and to do that, you have to know where to be and when. A lot of players with many times the natural talent failed at that aspect of the game and could never cut it in the NHL as a result, despite having a better shot and greater speed.

Definitely agree. That said, I think the staff do see JT and MM as thethered. The problem is MM's presence on that line greatly limits what type of player you can put on the RW. It also makes that line slower, whereas I'd like to see total speed thus giving JT more space and dmen less time to set themselves and find their man. It's not going to be an easy decision no matter what.

Islanders are looking amazing so far. I have nothing to complain about. Well maybe KO, but it is the typical KO. Does nothing for the first 65 games and then he wakes up and plays like he could. As long as the team is winning though who cares.

still disagree on that. I think they've scored some pretty goals but I have yet to see the relentless forecheck they displayed late last year, yet to see the whole team firing at once and the defensive coverage is still spotty and they still back off the line far too quickly. If you've got numbers at the line, someone needs to step up and force the play at the line, not the faceoff dot. Make it more difficult for the opponents to carry it in and generate some turnovers at the line leading to odd man rushes.

They've done all of this in little bits in each game and have been fairly lucky to come away with 5/6 points. More consistency is needed, and they need to be more aggressive in their own end instead of being content to keep people to the outside and let them cycle.

It drives me nuts to see one guy carry the puck into the zone against 3 defenders unopposed until he gets near a good shooting location. Push the play, step up and disrupt the rush. If you get beat and you've got a man behind you it's not a big deal, but if you all back in you're screening your own goaltender and allowing them a chance.

I need to see that out of this team along with the relentless forecheck to feel like they're not going to start dropping games. The scoring will get tougher at times, and defensively they're not playing like they're ready for that.

UIF you catch a lot more BPT games than I (my number is at '0') so in your opinion, how far off do you think Kabanov is from deserving a shot in the NHL?

Didn't see much of him at all with the wrist injury, unfortunately, so I really couldn't say. Just in the little I've seen of him over the years though...a couple of juniors games that were on TV, a couple of preseason games, and a couple of BPort games...he has excellent vision and good speed. Don't know if that'll be enough for him to get to the NHL, but there's definitely talent there.

Disagree...you don't commit to go to Gary Roberts' camp...and he certainly doesn't accept candidates...if you're only interested in wasting time and partying or whatever. He only takes a few candidates in the offseason to work with, and those who write about it indicate he's pretty selective in who he chooses.

I hear what you're saying but I'll go with what I said and add we won't be hearing about Kabanov anymore.

I've seen some of his junior games but nothing at the AHL level, which of course is a huge development portion of his career so I wasn't sure if his game is adapting or not. I know he has fantastic hands and agility. I have a hard time understanding how a skill player like that can be sent to the ECHL. That's not a great league to hone offensive skills. It's one thing to send Clark or A-Mac there, another to send a potential top six forward there.

Spot on. Agreed. I was shocked they were winning 4-1 going into the third? Don't get me wrong i was ecstatic about it but shocked none the less. The Yotes had the puck more often than not. We started to see a little bit of that forecheck in the third yesterday. Hopefully that's a sign of more to come because that forecheck is why they were so successful last year.

I think it's been said plenty of times that he's a 'potential' loose canon, but folks have also been bowled over by how much of a peoples player he is. He's apparently extremely outgoing to young fans. He's also a hard worker. Maybe he just needs a new alarm clock

I agree, it's a thing of beauty when it works. However I can't tell you how many time I've exploded at the TV when that third pass get picked off by the D-man.

this message board is great.
Last year - all Bailey and Nielsen haters. Now you cant find one negative comment.
this year - Hate Regin, Hickey, Strait. Regin Scores, he is now off the list. LOL.

But enough about that.
The guys that have most impressed me this season not named Tavares.

1st star - Fran Nielsen - He doing it all. He has always been a great centre but he have way more confidence in his offensive game this year. His passes were more impressive than they goals scored last night.
2nd Star Grabner - He looks stronger and he given it all on ever shift.
3rd star Nabakov - he has looked great in all 3 games. Unfortunate for us. Cappy will burn him out and there will be a game he shelled in near future. I hope it not this friday.

If we going to be successful, we need incorporate poulin with some starts.

Finally, How about them Rangers. Im still baffled how all the guys on TSN, NHL still rank the rangers ahead of us. I cant wait till the all swallow there words.
