Maybe, but is there enough skill with Giroux in Hartnell and Simmonds?

There is a method to the madness. That's often our first power play unit... (Minus Vorachek)...

Well, Newbury can actually play hockey, and would be a professional player even if he couldn't fight. If there was no fighting in hockey, Rosehill would be a bouncer or construction worker.
- Jsaquella

I'm sure newbury will take us to the promised land. I dot really care between the two. There must be a reason newbury bounces in and out of the league, right? Neither guy is the best fit, IMO. I'm not going to kill Chief during his first practice. Maybe Rosehill works harder. Seems like chief is performance and effort based. I'm talking out of my ass of course but ill I've him a couple weeks until I see how his lineup looks.

I had enough of the Rosehill debate and it's the least of my concerns right now. There are 3 other lines that need to actually do something before I rip apart the 4th line.

i had more interest in this team last year when the lockout was still going on. the leadership of the organization has slowly and steadfastly been draining my passion. why is there ALWAYS some key piece of drama that goes on with this team? can't get through a season without major injuries, a coaching change, a death, star players being traded, goalie circus, off ice drama - whatever. it's always, always, ALWAYS, SOMETHING.

i'm tired of it.

I disagree with that completely. I think Talbot is a solid fit on the 3rd line. Talbot is a physical player, who is normally solid defensively. And can chip in the odd goal here and there. Especially if they're going to match up that line against top lines.
- MJL

He's struggled on the third line his whole career. If they could get a solid third line winger then Talbot could go back where he belongs and we would have an excellent 4th line.

This.

Let's see if we can actually get a forward to score a 5v5 goal, then we can start to work our way down the rest of the list.

Its interesting to see Coburn dropped to the bottom pairing. Wonder if there is any meaning there, or if those are just 3 even defensive pairings. Tims and Schenn played will together, Gross and Burn played well together, lets see what Mez and Streit can do.

You know how restaurants take an expiring item and offer it as the daily special and display it for everyone to see?

Nope, just making the point that Newbury is actually a pretty good AHL level player. He's been nearly a point per game guy at that level for the past couple seasons.

I wish whether it was a good idea to keep dressing a 4th line goon was the biggest issue they faced

Me too. Lavi would probably still be here and we'd be exited instead of flabbergasted and frustrated. I'm indifferent with the Berube hire but who the hell knows. Might as well see what he's got since everyone else was hired months ago already..

Timonen-Schenn
Meszaros-Streit
Coburn-Grossmann

Talbot is still a weak link on the third line. That second pair could be a disaster defensively.

- Feanor

He did the obvious: Split up Meszaros/Grossmann, and gave Couturier a winger.

There's hope for this thing yet.

A Hartnell and Simmonds combo isn't going to get Giroux going. Vorachek worked well with him last year.. why does it seem like its the wrong direction to pair them... it WORKED last year.
- mikel33

Because together they try and play a "look what I can do" game. Not an ounce of checking or defense.

I don't expect this situation to be permanent. I expect the Flyers either to eventually call up a player to play either on the 3rd line, to move Talbot to the 4th line. Or to keep Talbot on the 3rd line, and play another forward on the 4th. With Newbury sent back down. And Rosehill back into the role he signed for as the 13th forward.
