I'm actually pretty ok with this win. It wasn't pretty and they definitely went into a shell a few times there but they gutted it out and won.

Last year I think it happened twice where we sort of blasted out of a funk with some big wins like 7-2 or something like that. Those wins, at least in regards a long lasting positive effect really did little to get them going for long. When its so lopsided it seems the other team sort of gives in and its not the same kind of challenge as a game like this.

Hopefully they feel pretty good for their effort but they don't forget that they nearly let Florida back in this game and they were craptastic on their own powerplay.

What about the new lines, thoughts

The only thing I can say is that Read seems to be the only one who looks good no matter where he is

I'm not overly concerned about the mistakes. I think that will get cleaned up. The Coach just got fired. I would think that they would've been more fired up. They've played 4 games and have been outworked in every game. Including tonight. And yes, you absolutely can play with peak intensity with a new system. They had one practice. I guarantee that massive changes were not made.

They came to work tonight. Point blank.

Regardless, they're still not getting anything from the top line.

If that's coming to work, this team is in trouble. They played evenly in the first period. Then it was downhill from there. Panthers controlled the play for the remainder of the game. A tremendous effort in goal, gave the Flyers the W.

off subject, but these "For Male Gamers Only" ads are a bit distracting.

Why not McGinn? He did well last year. Raffl will be up this year.
- LJF

I just dont see Mcginn as an effective bottom 6 player. Hes a bit redundant when they have Hartnell, Simmonds, B Schenn. Just my opinion.

Brayden Schenn is having a pretty good year also. And I think Lecavalier has been good.

Not a fan of the top line. I think Hartnell and Simmonds are sort of similar and are used to putting themselves in sort of the same places on the ice so they're going to be in each other's way some. Plus, neither of them can skate for anything. Going to be tough to break out on a 2 on one for Giroux with either of them.

That said, I think maybe Berube is pushing Giroux a little, testing his mettle. I know it's cliche to say and I have no real insight into Berube's mindset but it feels like something that should be done. Everyone talks about what's on G's shoulders, yeah well there are 29 other captains out there dealing with it also.

They were just awful. Scary bad in their own end.

it felt like i was watching prevent defense for two full periods. if it wasn't florida the flyers were playing they would have been absolutely smoked. that said - I'm happy for a W

I'll take it, but Berube has some serious work to do.

It's one thing to not be generating offense, or even very many chances. But that line is awful defensively.

using Flashblock ... I don't mind seeing an ad, I just don't want those autoplay video ads.

and I meant that the "For Male Gamers Only" ads were distracting in a good way.

Simmonds and Hartnell are a terrible combination with Giroux

Rosehill should not be on the team if he is going to do something that dumb and selfish in the third period of a close game

The amount if ice time Meszaros is getting only makes sense if they still think he can be traded

Meszaros got that ice time tonight because he was one of the best defenseman.

Mez made a couple of mistakes out there but you are right overall i thought he played very well.

Timonen however has looked his age the last 4 games. I'm a bit concerned about him.

yeah, I don't like Simmonds and Hartnell together. Hartnell needs to be dropped down a line or two.

Rosehill = stupidity.

Mez probably deserved the ice time considering how bad Grossmann and Timo looked.

I have no idea why I'd break up G Harts and V.. leave that line.. Giroux needs a winger like V to really be effective IMO.. Mix up the other lines. Cooter and B Schenn were solid. Striet has been generally good as well.

I would add Luke Schenn to that list. He's been disappointing so far this Season.

glad for the win, but this was awful...

2 gift goals from thomas, who played like he thought he was tending an old timers game. otherwise, w/ virtually no zone time or sustained attack, they're still way out of sync- anemic. mason flat out stole the game. flyers only asset early on has been the goalies...go figure.

they can get their heads on straight, have their system down and find cohesion, but no amount of coaching can replace the dire need for a puck mover.

tough to watch...

I'd rather see Talbot and Read with Giroux.

Meszaros was an accident waiting to happen at ES, a black hole on the PP, and took a moronic cross checking penalty. He also is prone to having the puck dribble off the end of his stick for no apparent reason.

mez is painful to watch on the PP, but he played well otherwise.
