They have to know that this season is only going to be slightly different shades of grey until they get a puck-mover back there.

It's like football, when your offensive line is terrible. You can't evaluate a single position on the team properly on the offense until you get the line fixed.

This team is crippled until it does something about the mobility and puck skills on the back end. The ceiling...the ceiling is clear, and it isn't that high.

It would really depend on who the Flyers are willing to part with -- for me, this is such a glaring, obvious problem, without a solution in Adirondack, that I'd pay a lot.

As in something like...Wayne Simmonds, Shayne Goestibehere and a 2nd for Keith Yandle.

Or maybe even Simmonds straight-up for David Rundblad.

At some point, we're going to have to pay, and a lot. It'll look something like that -- Simmonds, Read or Brayden Schenn, for someone else.

true enough. i meant defense is not the only or worst problem. much of the trouble getting out of the zone can be attributed to forwards not giving the D any help in the D zone. the major issue with this squad is lack of intensity and has been for a while

I agree. Number one issue to address is upping the compete level of the team.

Runblad isn't proven enough in my opinion to give up Simmonds.
