Everyone who follows the NHL had him as one of the top two coaches on the hot seat. A 1-5-1 preseason record and an 0-3 reg season lethargic start meant he had to go. I wasn't shocked at all, and I think the coach has been tuned out.

Beginning tonight we'll see if it was the coach or not. If the team comes out flying and looks like the team we thought they'd be for the rest of the season, no one will complain.

- Hextall271

we won't know if it was the coach or not from tonight since Berube hasn't had time to get his system set up.

What do you mean? The system is 'Do exactly the opposite of what Lavi taught you!"

I'm not so sure about that. I think he views this team as a contender.
- PhillySportsGuy

Maybe. Just replacing a coach doesn't fix the issues we've had.

Not to shabby, thanks for askin!

looking forward to some Flyers hockey.

Want to see them pick up 2 points tonight.

Hopefully the broadcast will include some detailed info into what the Chief is looking to implement on the ice.

How he wants his team to break out, d-zone coverage, you know X and O stuff.

Hockey is treated as the red-headed stepchild in this city. It's still a big fanbase, but in terms of popularity, it's behind college basketball. The Eagles are easy to write about, because football is a fairly east game to gauge. Plus there's about 50 Eagles-related articles a day, during the offseason. With hockey, it's more fun to blame goalies make coaches inept, and treat every 2-game scoring slump like a grand regression. Any chance to put down the Flyers is pounced upon as soon as it's presented.

It's been fairly easy fodder for sports radio and some bloggers (Hi Kyle!) to say and write bad things about the Flyers because they know it will elicit a reaction from what is a very loyal fan base.

It's why I stopped listening to sports radio a LONG time ago. I'm cool with criticism based in logic and fact; it's when you start flinging poop just to get a reaction is where I stopped playing the game a long time ago.

Snider has shown so much passion towards this team and if the boys aren't fired up after events from the past 2 days then it will be a hopeless case...but I would put a lot of money on a Flyers win tonight...Florida, at home and a lot of emotion in the locker room.

Let's Go Flyers!

Re WIP: I'm finding it hilarious they are bashing the Flyers for everything they whine about on a daily basis that the other three teams don't do in Philly.

That question to Snider yesterday had me furious. I wonder if they'll ask Ruben the same thing about hiring Sandberg and Bowa.

I would really love to know what happened between the Flyers and the media... Its a witchhunt every time this team stumbles.

If this is a losing franchise what does that make the other three teams?

Now they're saying Flyers fans are blind followers. Someone get MJL on the air asap.

No, but I need a new show. Breaking Bad was so good. Anything else is going to be a step down.

If you'd like a show that incorporates the entire Revolutionary war into basically a Biblical mythology battle coupled with a man from the 1700s dealing with the present day and some good ole beheadings, it's a good show. Moves very fast.

The Phillies won a World Series so they elude a lot of criticism, but they deserve the most. Ruben has made almost exclusively bad moves.

Even if the Flyers have a bad season, they do have a decent farm system with some young NHL talent already on the roster.

The Phillies are old , injured and untalented with no farm system.

No. I'll check it out.

I'm still watching Sons of Anarchy, but it kinda painful to watch anymore.

I am interested in how Berube handles Schenn, Coots and Gus. IMO Lavy did not handle the young guys very well at all and may have been part of his dismissal.

I think the young guys need clearly defined roles and a coach will stick with them regardless of mistakes. Now if someone keeps making the same dumb mistake over and over or they are not competing then time to let the get homer's popcorn for a game or two.

The players don't have any more excuses so time to suck it up and play.

I think Schenn and Couturier are lacking confidence right now. Well, I think the whole team is really lacking confidence.

Like I said though, the entire thing will come down to finding a way to leave their own zone when under pressure. Once that improves, the goals will come and the confidence will rise.

If nothing changes, they will continue to struggle to score, compete or contend.
