Seriously though, if the Habs didn't wait for the last ten minutes of the game to start playing, the outcome would have probably been different last night.
- stinger67

I don't know if it's as much them starting to play or the opponent sitting on their lead like the habs have so often done.

The problem with that line is that Pacioretty is the "sniper", so he has to position himself and wait for the puck, but the way that line plays so far is that they dump the puck, with Brière or Desharnais going in the corners to retrieve it. It's obviously not going to work.
- stinger67

all i heard on the radio yesterday was how Pacioretty was shooting the puck at his regular strength/velocity in practice. didn't look like it to me.

The Flames were trying to protect a lead. It's not the first game they do that this season. It failed twice before last night.

watched 24CH last night, let's say that the conversation Bergevin had with Leblanc when he told him he was sent down, was...interesting

Watching 24CH. Lol'd at Therrien's Câlisse de tabarnak when Price denied him on a breakaway.

Pacioretty strikes me as the kind of guy who does a lot of things differently when there are no opponents on the ice.

i think it's both. obviously Calgary sat back a bit but Montreal played with absolutely no intensity in the opening 50 minutes. and i don't think it's fair to chalk that up to travel fatigue.

Your opinion on this subject is completely biased, because you don't care for the player.

If they suffer from that so early in the season, they have more problems than we can imagine.

well that's what im saying. they hadn't played in 4 days. they'd been out west since Monday. they had time to get over the jetlag/altitude whatever. the schedule basically couldn't have been kinder for this game. now the fatigue will set in. playing again 24 hours later, playing again Sat after travelling to Van. Markov played 27 minutes last night. should be interesting to watch him tonight against the likes of Hall, Yak and Eberle.

strength? not really at least not to me.

Eller's been doing it so far but I don't think you can rely on him to carry a line for an entire season and with Plekanec saddled with Gionta and Bourque it's tough for him to lend much of a hand.

They're in that familiar situation where they only have one line working and either you keep that line together and rely on them for all your scoring or you break them up and try to fire up other lines.

on defense, after Subban there isn't much ni terms of generating offense. Early in the season but Markov looks like he's lost not one but about 3 steps and it's not like they have a young Paul Ranger waiting in the AHL.

- dt99999

It was considered the team's strength prior to the season.

Why not just switch Plek and DD? We know Plek does well with better players, let 3 3rd liners be our 3rd line. Gionta and Briere can have veteran "neither-of-us-should-be-here" competition for the winger with Plek and Pacioretty.
