La scintigraphie est une méthode d'imagerie médicale qui procède par l'administration, dans l'organisme, d'isotopes radioactifs afin de produire une image médicale par la détection des rayonnements émis par ces isotopes après captation par les organes à examiner.

Le patient reçoit des molécules radioactives. Elles vont être absorbées par les organes. Ensuite, on analyse les rayons émis par le corps. Enfin, on reconstruit l'image de l'organe. La dose est contrôlée de manière à minimiser les risques liés à l'irradiation. Par exemple, une scintigraphie osseuse est égale à une radio du bassin, si on regarde la dose de radiation reçue1.
