There are very few players who are "elite" talents over the age of 30+ that play defense. Chara, Boyle, etc

I personally think Gio is more then a decent return....I don't think that Gardiner will get you anything close to what a lot on here think he would. Not at this point.

I think if you look at the immediate return then the Leafs are winning the trade. But by the time their careers are both done it will be seen as a fair deal, both teams got what they wanted.
