Lets actually name assets and not put a + in there because you can't make sense of it yourself.
That plus makes or breaks the deal, to be honest. I wouldn't do Kadri and Gards for them, and Philly wouldn't do Ashton and Gards for them. Toronto isn't going to trade their top 6 players for them, Philly won't trade them for bottom 6 players. Trading Reimer to them does nothing, as he really doesn't give them a proven guaranteed successful goalie. It also leaves the the Leafs weak in the reliable back up department.
These trades are pointless. We just traded Schenn, he's not coming back. As for the other offer, wtf would we want Coburn? We don't have the space to take all that salary on either. - Gunslinger
Doesnt matter if we traded schenn, we could take him back, i for one would take him hes still very young and his bro. I know the + is always confusing id have no idea who to add to make that deal work or make sense |

Reimer and Gardiner for Gio.....I wouldn't even think twice about it.
Remier won't get you nearly the return you think (see Schneider) and Gardiner, while young and talented, has a lot of question marks as well.....Gio would be a great return for those 2...but Calgary would never do it. - Cooshie
(frank), NO.
And we do what when Bernier gets hurt? Put Gio in net?
Also, where are we getting this cap space? Neither team should make that trade, but I would consider it more If I were on the Flames side. They are, after all, rebuilding. |

I am 100% serious. Sorry to rain on your parade but (frank) giordano gardiner is 23 and you are basically saying lets trade him away for a 30 year old. |

I like Jake too but...
Gio >>>> Jake - Cooshie
He's 7 years older, he better be better than Gardiner. At 23 Giordano was going back and forth between the AHL and NHL. The Flames almost lost him because they let him go to Russia. By 25/26 he was an effective top 4 d-man. Maybe we should at least let Gardiner hit that age before moving him plus other assets for gio? |

Why would we trade Gardiner, a project in the works, for Schenn.. another project in the works who makes a lot more? Where does his brother play? We dont need more forwards. Where is this cap space coming from?

I'll take a 9th over-all pick for Reimer if Bernier wins the job. |

Because everyone here is saying we need a tougher stay home defender, so might as well go younger instead of coburn if were talking about trading with the flyers and might as well grab his brother who will be the #1 or #2 punch over bozak with kadri.

If the oilers go 0-3 will they fire Dallas. ..... and can we have him back ? - The_Vark
We need to rebuild just like the oilers. High draft picks is the only way to rebuild and we (frank)ed up. I mean just look at the oilers now |

We don't need one. We need Frazer back.
We just need our d to play smart in their own end, thats all. The talent is there, it's time for them to put it all together. They aren't the toughest bunch, but they should use their strengths like their speed, hands and vision. Bozak isn't going anywhere, and if he does, it will be for someone more proven than B.Schenn. |

There you have it, you are clueless.
23yr old who could very well be an NHL bust is worth nothing if he does bust. Giordano is a proven top NHL shut down guy who does it every single year and will do it for the next 5 to 6yrs.....
Continually talking about not trading an (unproven) 23yr old for a (proven) 30yr old because of their ages might be one of the dumbest arguments I have read on here. |

take a step back here, chill.
keep in mind the leafs are a young team still building up, keeping youth is the direction they are in, so moving Gardiner at this point will only be done if its a homerun for the leafs.
that being said, I wouldn't trade Gardiner straight up for Gio, not trying to stir the pot, but moving out a youth player for a 'vet' player is the leafs of the JFjr era, and no thank you. |
