Ron wilson just didnt like people in general I believe. - Yeti1181
true, but like a -5 etc, okay. -10 is disgusting. Either way, grabo is a very one dimensional hockey player and i don't miss him one bit. |

riiight that was when Gardiner had a breakout year i guess. weird. oh well Ron Wilson never did like guys who could play D. - scotch_tape
Hey I was and am still a schenn lover. I believe teams need to develop guys like him to win cups. ie. Shutdown d-men like Robyn Regeher, Willie Mitchell, Keith Carney, and I can go on. They're just not sexy. I also believe teams need a PMD, not a hybrid, but rather a real skater. A guy that can make your offense look different, when the simple clear out isn't available. |

hockey is not all offense. Just look at why washington never goes anywhere in the playoffs. Bozak brings MUCH more to this team than grabo. Not even close. I defend bozak but im the first to admit there are much better 1st line centres for the leafs. Grabo is not one of them - clark_griswold
to each their own.
grabo is twice the player bozak is.
thats my 2 cents. |

He's really the only thing good about their defense. Coburn has gone to poop while the rest are always hurt. And streit is getting old. |

agreed. Offensive dman can come in and be good at 19. Name one Defensive dman ever tha was a monster right away. Totally different position. |

And let me throw in some really weird, "no, you can't actually make that statement" kinda math:
If you had kept Grabovski, it would be like you are paying him around 2 million.
Because you'd be saving $3 million a year by not having Liles count against the cap while playing on the Marlies. - Atomic Wedgie
thank you, and this is correct.
at least grabo could finish a goal if he ever played with phil and had the set ups...
bozak only scores on breakaways and shootouts |

well he was second in TOI/game and posted a plus rating on a poop team. i saw him on Sat and thought he looked solid too. overall i think it was a great trade for both teams. both players are playing well and needed fresh starts. |

if you are starting from the ground up, you have a point (grabo brings more offense and that is key). When you have 4 stud wingers, a 22 year old still learning centre in kadri at #2, you need a very smart, responsible centre like bozak instead of a loose cannon do it all myslef screw defense player like grabo.
On certain teams grabo is definately better. On others its bozak. I dont see how adding grabo's 60 pts with zero defense helps the leafs, a very good offensive, weak defensive team. But that's just me |

If we want to trade gardnier its going to be a young top line center in a package. - Yeti1181
As bizarre as this sounds, I don't think the Leafs trade for a centre.
Although it's not good enough to win us a Stanley Cup, we are set with Bozak, Kadri, Bolland, McClement.
Although I suppose you can now deal Bozak, now that we have his BFF locked in for the rest of his career. |

55-60 pts - 5 mil
clarkson will be lucky to hit 40 pts this year. but his 5.5 is ok
no spot = bozak's spot.
we have PK specialists.
bad attitude? when? he only got pissed off when they dumped him the day before his wedding, and guess what, macarthur said the EXACT same poop just 2 nights ago, saying how Carlyle is a poop coach and that he is the man to blame for grabovski's fall.
cap structure, yeah the 5.5 was a lot of coin for a guy that was playing 8 mins a game with kulemin and mac, i agree. best to ship him off. funny he got a hatrick first game - big_dion
Clarkson brings MUCH more to a game than Grabovski does......
The bad attitude stuff is probably over blown and whether it's factual and warranted, or not, it seems the coach felt that way.
Grabovski with Kessel doesn't work, it was tried. Kadri was not experienced enough to be the #1.

I think this trade will soon become the definition of "fresh start for both players."
They were both dying with their old teams.
Schenn was close to quitting hockey and opening up a cupcake shop. |

I would agree with this - a solid stay at home D is more important to this team than another C - especially if Bolland keeps playing the way he's been playing and stays healthy and if Kadri keeps progressing. |
