Is the Dallas Eakins death watch on? - docmorgan
If Laviolette got canned after 3 games...
Although I do think Eakins will be given a longer leash. |

Similar to how I'm not doing cartwheels after beating tow bottom feeders, I think it's a bit too early to hit the panic button. That said, if this sort of form continues past 15 games it may be time for MacT to rethink his strategy from top to bottom if he has hopes for this season apart from another high draft pick. - AlexF
Canucks are far from out of the woods. But starting to get an idea of what torts will bring. The sedins look solid and team is far more aggressive top to bottom. |

Paraphrasing what BobMac said the other night: 2 weeks is not much to go on, 3 weeks is a trend, how a team looks after 4 weeks? Book it.
I agree. I'm withholding judgement till at least November once the boys and the Torts system get in sync. That said, I do like the fight they're showing and the play they've been bringing for the full 60 mins. I almost forgot what that looks like. |

Honestly, with those young kids. They need a kick in the ass. I think Torts would have been great in Edmonton persoanlly.
But our boys needed a kick in the ass to. And I glad he landed here. |

And that fight is coming from the 3rd and 4th lines (more so 3rd) something we missed the last couple of years under AV.
Edit: It is only 3 games in. |

He will be safe as long as he doesn't accept video conference calls . |

Yup and yup. But let's be honest guys. We haven't had issues looking good for solid stretches in the regular season for at least 5 years now. It's what happens in the playoffs that matters to us at this point. |

Not sure if anyone has asked this on this site yet but who would you guys rather have.
Yakupov, Eberle, Hall, Nuge
or
ROR, Landeskog, Mackinnon, Duchene.
I dont know about you guys but I would choose the Avs 4 over the oil 4 any day of the week.

They are probably buying in to the Edmonton old boys frame of mind - that it is only a matter of time before the cups start coming their way again with all that talent. |

They've had 4 coaches implementing 4 systems over the past 5 years. That is pretty damn difficult to build a team's confidence and structure when you're playing musical chairs all the time. |

He is safe. The way they went after him. He was meant to bring the younger guys around. Hey you never know though Edmonton is a coaching graveyard much like we used to be a goalie graveyard. |

I think Mackinnon is the best player in that group (or will be anyway). 2nd best would be Hall. I think I'd rather build a team around versatile centers than wingers but they're both pretty promising cores. |

i know its only been 2 games. But Mackinnnon looks to be in that superstar category like Tavares vs hall eberle seem to be just very good players but not that superstar tier.

Getting rid of old habits isn't easy I have been putting garbage in the same spot in the kitchen for 6 years and my wife moved it to under the sink I still forget sometimes and its been 2 weeks. I would have to agree though mid november is a good base on the teams play down the stretch. There is the LU october factor as well don't forget. December might even be better judge. I will go out on a limb here and say 10 game win streak in January. |

Tough call, I think MacKinnon and Hall will be the best out of this group. I'd take Lamdeskog next because I love his all around abilities. Duchene and RNH will end up pretty close IMO. ROR is the weakest link IMO so it's really pretty even. Would have to dig deeper into the numbers to see who'd I go with. |

Is it just me or have you noticed Oil fans seem to have it in for Yak? Did they not know he was Russian? |

I agree, but I don't think the disparity is as wide as you feel it is. All of the players listed - Yak, Eberle, Hall, and the Nuge (IF he is capable of staying healthy, that is) are top line quality players (with superstar upside). That said, I think the Avalanche players you noted seem to be a bit more well rounded in terms of both offense, defense and grit. |

They were pretty high on him last year. Haven't had the heart to go into their forums this season yet. |
