Oilers aren't trading Eberle. - tomburton99
The ONLY way they get better is by trading one of their top players. Hall will not get traded. Gagner and RNH won't be traded due to contract and injury. That leaves you with Eberle and Yakupov. Eberle, next to Hall, is their best player. But this is the team that traded Gretzky, Messier, Coffey, etc..
Eberle gets them the most value. I hate Yak and love Eberle. Eberle is a guy who wins playoff games. Yak is a guy who puts bums in seats and who can be a 50 goal guy one day. I'll take Eberle and his ppg any day.

Please enlighten me on how the goaltending is horrible? Steve Mason has a .915 sv% in 2 games and Emery played the one game VS Habs where he was hung out to dry in a 4-1 loss. Ellers goal was of a luck bounce of the boards and there was 5-3 tap in I missed the first and last goal but that leaves it at a 2-1 game. Goaltending is not an issue this year and it wasn't last year either. It is the players and system. I rarely ever see guys moving their feet or connecting passes. Flyer Goalies have given the Flyers every chance t win games - xShoot4WarAmpsx
You must be new at cheering for the Flyers.
Everything you wrote above is 100% true.
And it doesn't make a damn difference.
It's the goalie's fault in Philly.
It's always the goalie's fault. |

We should make a top 10 list of terrible Philly GM moves... Trading Bobrovsky and watching him win the Vezina, trading Carter and Richards and watching them hoist the cup, signing Bryzgalov and buying him out after 2 years, giving Nashville the middle finger and offer-sheeting Weber to a $100 mil+ deal only to have it matched, signing Streit to a 4-year deal at 35, and Vinny to a 5-year deal at 33 and after multiple concussions, having the most expensive yet least consistent blueline in the NHL.... |

Having to beg your top player to 'retire' to the KHL because despite multiple cups and a talented young core no one comes to watch your team....oh wait.....that's the devils.... |

Exactly, Laviollette took the fall for the 2nd worst GM in the NHL.
Holmgren is almost at Feaster's level but not quite yet.
Right now the Flyers have two backup goalies, a terrible yet overpaid defense corps, and not much for offence after Giroux. Had Voracek not had a career year last year, they would have ended up even further out of a playoff spot.
On top of that, next season, their two goalies and top Dman are free agents.
They have 10 forwards (including Rosehill.. hahaha), 4 Dmen and 0 goalies signed and they are already at $56M on the cap.
For arguments sake, let's say the best possible situation happens and the cap goes up to 70M.
They will have 3 forwards to sign, three Dmen - including a #1D (teams always carry and extra forward and D), and both goalies and they'll only have $14M to do it!
What a mess. |

Stupid conf;icting moves means only one thing: Major owner interference from Snyder. Well myself growing up a Leaf fan in the circus Ballard era, I think I can understand. |

Yeah, but it's way easier to clean up a toilet after you've thrown up in it, than if you've had explosive poo.
One is more painful to the self and the other is just more embarrassing. |

think of it this way, the flyers completely blew it by trading jeff carter/mike richards away from their team for such shallow reasons as partying, spending personal time with porn stars, etc; they went on to immediately win the stanley cup making management look that much more awful for not having realized the skill they actually had.
simple mathematics on the trade:
Mike Richards + Jeff Carter > Brayden Schenn + Wayne Simmonds + Jakub Voracek
honestly either Richards or Carter are of more value than any of those players.
Lastly, to have signed a lackluster, non game changing player like Lecaviller (would still rather have either Richards or Carter over him) to such a high paying contract will be the primary bane of the flyers demise. |

Ya you gotta point there. While it's less messy to vomit, it reaks havoc on the ribs. But diarrea can make a huge toilet mess which is a pain to clean. Pick your poison. |

Actually we got Bschenn, Simmonds, Voracek, Couturier, Grossmann, and Cousins from those trades. Simmonds has outscored Richards in the past 120 games, and Voracek has outscored Carter in the past 100 or so... |

Should have been gone around the trade deadline last year when the team was out of it. Than give beurbe his shot to evaluate him. Now there as much questions about the coach as there is about the team. I think they can be a playoff team if beurbe is a good coach |
