Lindy Ruff did. As a matter of fact he is in Dallas now ruining more promising youth.

What's Holmgren going to do next? Sign Tyler Arnason to add offensive depth?

Does anyone think his financial issues with suing bank of america over enticing him to leverage and mortgage 3 properties distracted him.he is suing for 3 million.....
that might be a huge issue with him.......

Should've been done in the off-season.

Agreed. They would have had a bigger pool of coaches to draw from as well.

I think Willi Desjardins deserves a shot and will be a good head coach. Torts, AV, Ruff, Eakins, etc., were all viable candidates although I guess the Flyers could have pulled a Mactavish and fired their coach without warning if they guy they really wanted was available. Berube's in tough if he's Holmgrem's pick. If he's Ed's pick, that's a different story because Holmgren is probably next.

Mr. Gillis, I hope you're reading Hockeybuzz. Now is the time to trade Edler for a king's ransom and get Courturier+ for your 3rd line.

Edit: what the Flyers really needed was to replace Holmgren with Burke. That would bring the truculance back to Philly. Burkie could have then brought in Crow. Maybe it's not too late.

Can't say I'm surprised. Aside from that first period vs. Toronto this team has not looked good. Individual players have looked good but the team does not. Something is off. Whether Berube is the guy to fix that is the question.

Your right, this decision was based on last year as well.

Your wrong, The flyers D is brutal and old, their goaltending is a huge issue.

Holmgren needs to go now.

- MadManPaddy

Please enlighten me on how the goaltending is horrible? Steve Mason has a .915 sv% in 2 games and Emery played the one game VS Habs where he was hung out to dry in a 4-1 loss. Ellers goal was of a luck bounce of the boards and there was 5-3 tap in I missed the first and last goal but that leaves it at a 2-1 game. Goaltending is not an issue this year and it wasn't last year either. It is the players and system. I rarely ever see guys moving their feet or connecting passes. Flyer Goalies have given the Flyers every chance t win games

Sorry, Coots will eventually be traded to Toronto. The deal will be Coots & Emery for Gardiner, Bozal & Reimer.

Ok why post a picture of the Rangers. My post had nothing to do with the Rangers. But look at guys coaching the league now that do't have cups. Lavo has one and got the Flyers closer than they had been in 13 years. Rangers are far from the model of excellence but to get made fun by an islander fan is ironic for sure.

Your post was "Dumber guys than Lavo have yet to win a cup"

and I posted a picture of the Rags logo & said "true"

I really dont think it needs much more explaining.

It does, coming from the likes of you and having to endure the likes of Goring, Nolan, Milbury(twice), Henning(twice) and Scott Gordon.

If the Leafs and Flyers do a deal, that won't be the one.

Also, how will Gardiner and Reimer end up in Philly when they'll be traded to Edmonton first. Edmonton's troubles are the same as always. Defense and goaltending. Adding RNH and Gagner gives them massive punch up front but that's not what wins in the playoffs. Dubnyk has decent numbers but needs an address change. Reimer has more upside imo.

Gardiner, Reimer
for
Eberle, Labarbara

Toronto would be grossly overpaying. The next coming of Ron Francis spent more time last year on the FOURTH line for the Flyers. That would be a DUMB deal for Toronto.
