While I am not surprised as the team has struggled for over a year in his scheme, i am not sure who the right guy to come in is with the type of players they have...

I think Dallas Eakins wouldve been far better suited for success with your teams strengths, than the Oilers. He'd be a solid coach for the type of players you guys have.

Wow he didn't even make it to Canadian Thanksgiving. I love Lava as a coach but this needed to happen.

Not surprised at the firing. Not sure I love the interim solution....but Berube has certainly earned the right to at least be given a look.

Laviolette (3 games) quickest firing to start an NHL season.

How has Berube earned the right to become head coach? More of the same Flyers crap. It appears he will not be interim, but head coach. Just awful.

3 games is way to early to fire him, i would have given him atleast 10 games. I mean can you really blame him? They really do not have much of a defense with pronger being out, Timonen, coburn, mezaros, and streit. They also lack a goalie. Question remains, can you really blame the coach?

agree but timing is weird. when you fire a guy 3 games into the season it seems like the decision was pretty much already made, because 3 games is nowhere near enough time to judge a team. why not fire him in the offseason? just seems like Philly wasted an entire training camp with a lame-duck coach.

At least with Chief's pedigree the Flyers scoring should start to skyrocket. Ha!

Like others have said...you can't fire 23 "players" and Flyers were expecting a better season this year......like my Devils

I think the GM is more to blame than the coach in this case, but I think the coach is usually first out the door to buy the GM time.

Except it is not 3 games..
its last season + 3 games.
The Flyers D is serviceable, their goal tending this season is not an issue.
The problem is the system they try and force on the players they have and the lack of in game adjustments.

Lavi has a definite shelf life as he took 2 teams to the finals but is not a long term Barry Trotz type coach.

The flyers have great players with Lecavlier, Giroux, couturier, and B Schenn. They have talent, they just cannot put it all together. They need a good goalie, and they need defense.

If they really wanted a chance to turn things around this year, bring back the veteran Terry Murray, his structure is what they really need right now.

As mentioned above if this was the case why keep him through the offseason, flyers were garbage last year and i mean no offense by that. They couldnt accomplish a damn thing. Lavie isnt a terrible coach but he isnt terrible either. Any money he gets rehired elsewhere

What a joke. After three games either Holmgren is slow on the trigger or too fast. If you didn't like the scheme why not bring in a new coach before the season. Even Barry Melrose lasted longer into the season.
