If you were going to drop him three games in, then hell yeah, you should've fired him in the offseason.

Man, I support Paul Holmgren like few others. But if you were gonna drop the guy within 20 games, you should've dropped the hammer in June!

- AllInForFlyers

Laviolette had Snider's full support, so it's gonna be hard for Ed to blame this all on Holmgren.

http://the700level.com/fl...-coach-fired-this-season/

As far as Peter [Laviolette] is concerned, last year was an anomaly. He’s been a very good coach for us. A good coach in this league. We’re thrilled to have him.

Laviolette this Season has made changes to the forecheck scheme, and the breakout scheme. The current issues are due to a lack of execution, individual mistakes, and worst of all. An apparent lack of intensity, and hard work

The Flyers got pushed around by that small Montreal team in a putrid effort Saturday night.

Maybe they've tuned him out, but it's clearly not working. And he's likely going to pay the price.

Yeah, in another hour and ten minutes

I am not really encouraged by the Berube hiring. I won't trash it immediately, because he may well turn out to be a very capable head coach.

The lack of head coaching experience worries me. He was head coach of the Phantoms for about three weeks, when he got brought up to the Flyers after the Hitchcock firing.

if they have any hopes of salvaging the season, they need to bring in a guy w/ some cachet. berube inspires nothing for me.

My buddy, a rangers fan, texted me last night and asked if I'm ready to fire Lavi yet. I replied that I'm willing to give him a few more games, but I have to admit I am very close.

The Flyers seemed ready to shrug of whatever issues they had last year and in the preseason during that first game against Toronto. But outside of Lecavalier and Rinaldo nobody on this team seemed to care enough to try.

I am really sick of that so called top line of ours. You have 2 big bodies in Voracek and Hartnell and all 3 of them try and be too cute for thier own good. Drop passes, cross ice passes, trying to thread the needles.... It makes me sick. You want to work on your pretty goals when your up by 3-4 goals fine, but until then you have to buckle down, and play smart hockey.

I am also really tired of Simmonds. I know Bill said the line was the best the Flyers have, but I think anyone would look good with Vinny at this point. Simmonds has ZERO control of the puck, and constantly make horrible decisions with it.

I am completely neutral about Couts and Schenn. They are doing enough that I can't rip their heads off, but not doing enough to earn any praise either.

Like I said, I want to give Lavi a few more games, but really, something has to change soon. Either personel or Coach.

I would ask Ottawa for permission to talk with Luke Richardson.

Can only blame execution for so long. Teams adapted to the system. We didn't adapt to their changes.

I think the Pens game is Lavy's last stand if things keep going this way. The Flyers have six days off after that game. Could have a "mini" training camp with the new coach if they wanted. I do not want to see Lavi go but I am not sure what else they can do.

If Lavi goes Holmgren better go with him. Not sure how Holmgren keeps his job while Lavi loses his.

- mickel25

If only I had waited two minutes I could have saved some typing. Wow! Three games! That's it! Maybe Berube is a great coach but it just seems more of the same from this team. Maybe the next coach could be Dave Poulin or Tim Kerr or Rob Zettler or Jiri Dopita or Kevin Haller or Brent Fedyk or Pelle Eklund or Andy Delmore or insert random former Flyer's name

I agree, What does he know about systems and in game adjustments etc? Especially if he has been learning under Lavy? What will he really change on this team? A little more Rah Rah? Team needs more then that at this moment

Honestly with this call, they should have just done it in the offseason and started new this season.

I never stated that Dreger was wrong. Nor did I state that Berube would not be the next Coach. I simply doubted the sources. And I stand by it.

Old time hockey and skate hard...Zac and rosehill may get 23 minutes next game...as far as hockey schemes, not sure even if he has learned a ton that anyone would be able to shift the way the team plays over night...worst case, they open it up and just drive to the net all game long...the D has been better this year at clearing the zone on most nights, so maybe in a offensive focused effort, the D can hold their own vice the tenative play by almost everyone...

Well good. Now these mindless turnovers will be negated and we should be good to go 79-3 this year. All we needed was a coaching change and we'll have none of the boneheaded plays in the defensive zone that have plagued us since 2005.
