Homer should be making a play for Christian Ehrhoff.
- bradleyc4

Since I'm one of those people who is unafraid of term if you can project production, I'd be fine with that.

Take away Coughlin's two Super Bowls, and the guy has been a complete bum.

there should at least be a system in place where a player could petition for an exemption to the rule

If you can play in the NHL as an 18 year old, why the hell would you not be able to play in the AHL?

Berube was on the fan 590 saying it was always his dream to be head coach of the Flyers
- 2Real

This is not true... hockey central hasn't been on yet..

RE: Gus.

I think we're waiting on a trade for that to happen. One of the defensemen that is currently on the roster probably won't be shortly.

- johndewar

Yeah but ideally it would be nice if Mez was playing well enough to yield any kind of return if he's the one that ends up getting shipped. I don't think he's been that great, he's had ups and downs, along with the rest of the team

Im being serious too. Snider and the media got into it a few times. Eskin brought up a question about all the coach firings over the past few decades and Snider got into with him. Then there was a question, from another journalist, about the Flyers culture and Snider ripped into him saying there was no culture problem.

And that was about it.

I really don't know how to feel right now. We are only 3 games in. I think this team still has the talent to be a playoff team. They just need to have the work ethic. If anyone can give it to them its Berube and Lappy. Right?
- youarewrong

I believe this is part of the problem...many keep indicating how much talent this team has, but that might be a bigger issue than some are willing to admit. When I look at this lineup, I see several big, slow d-men, two of which are seriously injury prone, an aging vet way past his prime and a bunch of young forwards in their 3rd years that have yet to reach their potential. From where I sit that isn't a recipe for success.

Normally I love Flyers/Flyers fans misery, but I just want you guys to be a good hockey team; are things really that bad 3 games in?

But they really are. They might not have a Crosby or Ovechkin, but only 2 teams do. They have a Giroux.

Look at these guys. All top picks. Voracek, Schenn, Couturier, Schenn. These guys do have the talent, its getting them into a system that can exploit it.

- youarewrong

Losing board battles and making stupid cross ice passes and not finishing clear cut chances has nothing to do with a system! It is about hockey IQ and ability/talent. Yes G and Jake are very talented upper echelon players...Schenn X2 and Couturier I don't see it. Just because you are drafted highly doesn't equate to success in the NHL!

Yeah, I agree. Maybe not until they've completed at least two years of juniors or something.

They were bad last season. This is a continuation of that. Too mnay people looking at 3 games, and not enough looking at 9-23-1 vs NJ, NYR and TB the past couple years

I wonder if we should expect some player personnel changes with Berube.

Will he call up someone for a 3d line winger or will he continue plugging this hole with Talbot or Rinaldo?

What line combos will he run?

A lot of really young players though. They have a slightly better excuse, I feel. But yes they are really bad.

Wow that is a very telling stat. We just played the Sabers there is no way your Flyers are worse than them.

Berube saying on 590 that the Flyers are not currently playing like team on the ice. He said they need to play better team defense and that's the first thing to change in his mind.

He also they need to skate harder, move the puck quicker. (obvious stuff)

He said they haven't shown a lot of passion since training camp.

He defended his goalies when the guys on the Fan said that goaltending was at fault..

Yup. And this goes back to last season, the pre-season, and the first 3 games...the team has no identity, no rhythm, no energy...and it's a shame because it looks like we have 2 pretty good goal-tenders ready to keep the garbage out of the net.

Lots of folks making Laviolette out to be a martyr, which I don't agree with.

Roster construction is on Homer. I get that part of it and he'll likely be dealt with shortly.

But, what happens with that roster when it's on the ice is on Laviolette. It hasn't been working for awhile.
