How does Paul Holmgren keep his job?

Bad trades.
Bad free agent signings.
Fires his coach too late.

How is this guy still your GM??

I don't know. I really expect Hextall to take over in the offseason unless they go deep in the playoffs.

So, now that Laviolette is fired, we should be an unstoppable machine that never makes stupid boneheaded plays, whiffs on passes, or panics with the puck, correct?

yea, that carle could have been making that pass w/ more of a clue and that we'd still have JVR...

That summer of Suter/Parise/Weber is rearing its ugly head indeed.

To Homer, two in the hand is worth one in the bush.

Because the owner pushes for most of the first two items on your list.

Many of his bad moves are the result of a middling owner.

I love reading the constant complaints about Rosehill and Rinaldo. Its like they are responsible for Giroux, Hartnell, Voracek playing like dookie.

If anything they are the ones that have been going out and doing their job.

Giroux and Hartnell have been awful. Claiming Giroux was one of the 5 best players came a little early. Now's the time to step up and prove he is worth the contract he signed.

That's true -- but if you're playing Zac Rinaldo more minutes, which some are advocating, we're not exactly getting Brett Hull and Teemu Selanne on the ice.

Again, people make the mistake of equating "hard work" with "production."

Brett Hull and Teemu Selanne play hard, folks. The only difference is when they get a puck in the slot, it's labeled for a corner. When Jay Rosehill gets it, it's headed for the glass.

- AllInForFlyers

Agreed. If you want to jumpstart the offense, Rinaldo isn't the answer.

Which has struggled this season. Berube's PK team has been good.

The main thing Berube needs to do is get away from Laviolette's gimmicky 2-1-2 forcheck that has been working so poorly.

1.) Fire Laviolette
2.) Hire Berube
3.) ??????
4.) Pop the bubbly at the Championship parade

I think it's more the result of the Pronger trade. They traded two first round picks, a young top 6 (Maybe top 4) defenseman and a top 6 forward for 1 year of Pronger.

Clearly, the Flyers drafted Zac Rinaldo because of his lengthy history as a puck possessing scoring machine.
