i really think they should have given the reigns over to murray. I think berube might be a filler for a couple of games till they make a decision....This rash move has sniders fingerprints all over it.
- PhillaBully

I agree....probably should of just released the whole staff and started fresh....I said it earlier they should try for Luke Richardson he has done wonders with the Bingo Sens

This isn't really happening to us, right? I mean, this poop happens to poorly run teams that never win and have no fan base. What has happened to my hockey team????
- matman31

It's terrible, but if you want some hope look at what happened in Chicago after they fired Savard four games into the 08-09 season.

Waiting until now to fire Laviolette was a big waste of time. Anyways, even after all of this I'm sad to see him go, I really enjoyed his intensity.
- BulliesPhan87

He definitely offers some real good qualities as a Head Coach. And I thank him for what he did for us in 2010.

I don't think that's true. Poorly run organizations that never win, keep head coaches for way too long.

That's my hope. I'm not going to write off Berube without seeing him coach one game, but if he's going to keep Lavi's system the results won't be any better. I'd prefer Berube and Murray to swap roles for the season.
- Feanor

i have no idea what he's capable of. he's running the show now, so i all i can do is hope he succeeds.

This front office has issues with timing... Three games into the season... Should have pulled the (frank)ing trigger last June with a better selection of candidates available....

I agree. If Jay Rosehill wasn't on the roster, the Flyers would be 3-0 and none of this would've happened.

The next move I expect from the Flyers is to move Chris Pronger to assistant coach. Flyers played better when Chris was around the team.

This tweet gets my wholehearted endorsement

Truthfully? The sad part is that it can't get much worse -- he's a success if he can just get this team to score two goals at even strength tomorrow night.

I'm sure Berube has a coaching philosophy that is independent of Lavi's tutelage.

Unless they're going to go straight into a hockey 101 type of mode, I wouldn't expect any wholesale changes right off the bat. It won't be until toward the end of the year where we really get an idea of what Berube's about as a coach, and by then, they'll be ready to knock him back down to asst again.

I just don't think this team is a skilled enough team to run his system. They need something simple. Their breakouts have been so bad the last two seasons. It's not all on Lavi, but it's a problem that hasn't gotten better since the playoff series against the devils.

The 2010 run and the 2011-12 season were great times. Obviously he couldn't ride on that forever, but those're the things I'll remember his tenure for.

Would that affect Pronger's contract in relation to the salary cap?

The biggest thing any new Coach needs to do is get this team to compete to a level that matches or exceeds the opposition.

No free lunch apparently for Prongs... I'm surprised they didn't have him driving the team bus to earn his salary.
