Not sure but it was kind of rude the way it was asked. They could have asked "Have you ever thought about bringing in someone from outside the organization to help change the culture?"

Instead it was like "Your team hasn't won in 38 years. Have you thought about bringing in a coach from a winner?"

You knew he'd get all upset about that.

To be fair though, Lavi was an outside the organization guy with a proven track record of winning.

Any time someone starts off a question with some form of "I don't mean any disrespect".....you know some disrespectful poop is about to be said.

Sports radio hosts in this town have been saying that no one cares about hockey for years. It's why I stopped listening to sports radio.

I should say that I wasn't referring to the coaches...GM position has been filled with individuals who have been long time Flyers...it's not like other organizations don't produce qualified hockey people. What's wrong with looking elsewhere for once?

He asked Colin Campbell; Campbell declined.

The last outside the Flyers GM they brought in was Russ Farwell and he had slight ties to the Flyers...but his tenure went over REAL well

Is the presser done? Holy no information. I did appreciate hearing what Homer's mindset was in keeping him so long and I agreed with it to an extent. Short season no camp.

Yup. It's Kind of like the vote of confidence for Lavi, you don't give that statement for a guy unless said confidence is called into question.

Hextall was with the organization, but he is a proven winner as a front office guy. They brought him back and you can tell he has influence.

Would it be wrong to hire him if Holmgren were to be fired?

Couple of thoughts.

1 - Vegas is always right. Well most times.

2 - We have 2 former goons running the organization now in Holmgren and Berube and I am jealous we don't have someone like Yzerman as GM.

- phillydentist

Holmgren wasn't just a goon. And in no way shape or form does being a skilled guy automatically make you a good coach or GM (hello Gretzky).

that said, I do wish they would go outside of the organization. I would have much prefered Berube being the interim coach

Exactly -- with that mentality, we couldn't hire Dean Lombardi if he was available, because he worked here once.

First question:
"So coach Berube, how do you plan on keeping your high-paid defense from panicking and blindly throwing the puck up the boards as soon as they get it, as that was obviously a designed part of the former coach's plan?"
Second question:
"Now that you've answered how the defenseman are going to make flawless decisions with the puck, how do you plan to increase chances in the offensive zone? It was clear that the former coach instructed the players to make cross-ice passes when they're on top of each other and to allow defenders to block their shots."

- jmatchett383

Dude just stop..you wanted them to keep going the way they were? Part of it is lavys fault part of it is the players...firing lavy will hopefully adjust some of the players attitudes. Yes there are things that can be done to minimize a weak defense.

Comcast would need to buy him out to do that. He still owns a large chunk of the team

I agree about the first statement. Ed and Homer owe us die hard fans some answers really if they care about this as much as they say.

My guess is Berube simplifies the system and tries to get them to play the style they played down the stretch last season. I would also hope that Gus gets a shot to play at some point soon.

no, of course not, everyone should be judged on their resume...I do like that Hexy was at least with another organization (one that won a cup) and he might have some new ideas.

Ain't that the truth. One question for Berube in which he replies, "uuhhhh, we have to play better team defense, uhhhh"

Lame work by the press.

And like you said....there was a really good way to ask that question and it was a good question.

It's like that reporter (whoever it was) tried to master the art of asking a question right before that press conference started.

Probably just speculation, but I've heard they may look at what worked late last season as something to go off of.

Also, Clifton Heights in the house.
