You can make an argument that that was on Snyder.

Acquiring Bryz made it all but certain the team had to trade Bob. He was not a good backup, he was unhappy and he was being paid an awful lot for a backup. His value was only going to get worse as he continued to struggle as a backup.

That package could have gotten them Pietrangelo or Karlsson or Subban or just about anybody in the league not named Crosby/OV/Malkin/Stamkos. Instead, they opted to go for the guy who was past his prime, with a history of major injuries, as a shortcut to the Cup.
