Joey Mac played fine ... The flames sat back and watched the Canucks in the third ... Terrible turnovers cost them |

Monahan looked better than Colborne tonight IMO. - Nucker101
I hope Monahan stays with the flames ... Lend him to team Canada for the juniors... Then back to cgy |

Isn't that against the rules? And once you send them back down to junior they have to stay their. |

I don't want to send him back to juniors , just let him play for Canada in the world juniors ... You can do that |

I don't think you can, because he would no longer be an amateur. Once the worlds started he would already have passed the threshold of games.
edit: I was wrong. I guess you can. |

I think we'll see allot of this over the course of the year... Better start to the year than I expected for sure... The more I see Monahan, the more I want him to stay!
As for the jersey, seriously, if that's truly it, someone needs to lose their job!! Bloody awful, as bad as Dallas! |

Yeah those better not see the light of day ... Awful ... As long as we are in every game and keep scoring goals I'm happy with our start .... 12 G and 4 of 6 points is pretty good for a team that many consider to be a lock for last place |

I got to say that I like those Jerseys. Maybe could have altered the colours a little bit more. Blue flame? |

The Flames should have been able to win that one. They lost the game because of their own stupid mistakes. |

You got admit ,The Flames have been a real suprise these first three games. Who wouldv'e thought they be able to earn points in all three games so?
The defense & tending leave alot to be desired but they give themselves a chance with their hard work every night. Give coach Hartley kudos for what they've done this first week ,just can't see it staying that way as the season goes along.
Maybe just maybe this will be a relativley short rebuild for the Flames , no gaurentees either way. But it will be interesting either way , Good luck with the new Division this year........

Agree with you on that . I think by the end of the year it will be clearer if Ramo or Berra can be capable starters .. If not then at least you know and still have a few prospects in net . Kinda the same on the back end ... Brodie and Gio have liked good together . Wideman and Russell are very offensive minded but can be scary in their own end ... Butler and sob are just full ins. Sielof looked good before he got hurt and I wouldn't be surprised to see him make his nhl debut at some point this year ...flames don't have the high end top line fwds but I think they can throw 3 lines at you with potential to score and with Hartleys system and some of the moves made by feaster this team is no longer sutter boring
So far tangauay for jones is looking alright |

Yeah, the tournament isn't an amateur tournament, it's based on age. Monahan is young enough to play and if Calgary allows him to he can play. Only reason guys like Hall didn't play was because Edmonton decided to keep them on the team. |

Would you rather have the sabres third or that one? I'd take the Calgary third over ours any day of the week. |

A few thoughts...
1. Wish they would have started Ramo, but I believe the coaches are going to go with the "win and your in" method. The 4th goal was really weak, but Joey Mac made up for it by saving a few he had no business stopping.
2. A couple bad turnovers by the forwards cost the Flames the game.
3. Good push back in the final minutes of the game, great to see.
4. The Baertschi-Monohan-Stempniak line was by far the best. Hopefully Hartley starts using this combo on the PP once Baertschi and Monahan get settled in a bit more.
5. I really hope they keep Monohan. I see no reason why he should go back. The longer the season goes the better he is going to get and the more ice time he will get as well. Not to mention we can still send him to the world junior tourney.
6. We didn't stand a chance in OT, especially with the Sedins double shifting. Too much talent.

Forgot to mention how horrifying those supposed 3rd jersey's are. Dear god, BRUTAL. I find it really hard to believe those are the actual one's though. I just can't fcking believe it. |

As bad as the Team Canada Oly's. Honestly, why don't they put it out to the fan base? Have a competition online? Would be great for the fans and i guarantee the creativity of real fans would be a hell of allot better than of the "professionally" designed version... |

I just want to know who approves these pieces of crap? You know there is about 10 people sitting around in a boardroom somewhere and everyone is staring at that hideous thing going "oh ya that's really nice, let's go with that one".

That jersey reeks of a committee decision. Whenever a large group of people get together to design a logo/uniform/style/website, etc, you end up with a lot of differing opinions, and what ends up coming out is the most boring product you could imagine because you end up with the design that offends the fewest number of people. This jersey is about as bland as it could possibly be. They should bring back the horse-head. That was a cool logo that stood out of a crowd. This jersey looks like a sample design you'd see in an eastbay catalog. |

I'd be shocked if the Flames actuallt went through with sweaters that ugly. hopefully it is just rumours, but we've seen this team do many other strange things. |

1. Overall I thought Joey played alright . Made a few great saves but would probably like another shot at a couple of the goals. I typically don't mind the win and your in method but I think flames fans are eager to see Ramo play a bunch of games to see what he is
2. Very soft play by glenx...not sure why McGratton is on the ice at that stage of the game .... Either way both turnovers can't happen
3. Really liked the patience with the puck. The old flames would have just fired one timers right away with no shooting lane and given up an empty net off a blocked shot
4. Agreed
5. Monahan has to stay .... And definitely send him to world juniors... I still fear he might get sent back only to not eat up a year of ELC but to be honest with the lack of big contracts right now I think you can take the chance and let him play
6. They looked amazing in the OT against the caps who have just as much skill up front to throw out in OT

I'm curious if there is anything other than the nhl 14 angle to this .... I've seen teams with alternate jerseys on that game that have never existed ... The game just creates them to give more options |

Why do the flames have to have such ugly jerseys seriously IMO
They have to be the worst
Seriously there third jersey they had was great and should have used it as a new home and used a spinoff of that for a road uniform but this happens I don't see how anybody would buy that.
Worst jerseys in the nhl - Oilers42
do we really need to be reminded of the hideous dark blue oil drop/gear logo/sweater?[/img] |
