Battle Level needs to be elevated to Profanity status on this blog.

isnt that classic Cappy.
Bailey get put on tavares line in preseason and the line shines. He reward is getting move to 2nd line.

You guys being a bit harsh on Strait. I agree he nothing special and be totally fine with benching him few games and given reinhart a chance.

IF Reinhart doesnt stand out, he'll have no reason to be bitter aboutif he sent down after.

I like Hickey. He is great skater, and he does right thing with puck every time.

As for Clutterbuck - Take Regin or Bouchard out.

All in all - I love that we have a depth problem now.

He wasn't terrible but the CBJ player that came down right wing never should of gotten that far
- Isles316

strait is obviously not going to be an allstar anytime soon i just feel for what he is paid to do, be a 3rd pairing dman, he isnt that bad.

Sending Nelson down would worst thing to do.

Not for nothing. Cappy not doing where to put nino in lineup was reason why he got disgruntle and wanted to be traded.

Nino did what he had to do in first half of last season, to earn the call up and they shafted him.

that said, emergence of Nelson made Nino expendable.

I've heard that said before but was never sure how much stock to put into it. Especially considering Peca suggested displeasure in Lavi's firing after the fact. His comment was that he "didn't see it coming". If it was true, and Peca played that much of a role in it, I have all the less respect for him. I do remember Milbury's comments afterwards saying Lavi had 'lost the lockeroom' and there were plenty or rumors suggesting what players played a factor. It's also noteworthy that Peca only played one more season w/ the Isles after Lavi was gone.

I mostly heard Yashin but who knows? One thing is clear, there always seems to be drama around Lavi and he does not have a long stay in any spot.

No question Cappy and handling the lineup is an adventure.

Yeah, the version I recall at the time was that Peca and Lavi's wives were best friends and it created a clique in the lockeroom , Peca guys versus Yashin guys. Ultimately Yashin's relationship with Wang won out and Lavi was sent packing as Peca was the following year. Remember, just two months before Lavi was fired, he was touting Peca as an MVP candidate to the press.

This is the comment from Peca that makes me think he was NOT the guy who caused Lavi's dparture. When asked about Lavi in 2006 he said:
"The unfortunate thing is that, on that team, I was one of the few guys who realized what a good coach he was."

Doesn't sound like he was in the anti-Lavi camp.

Yep, It does not seem like Peca was involved. That Isles team started out great and ended soo badly It will be interesting to see how quick Lavi gets another job.

regin knocked in the 2nd goal...honestly, and i know ill get blasted for it but i dont think strait was that bad against CBJ.
- LetsGoIsles

Agreed. I thought Strait was one of the harder hitting defensemen out there Saturday night so I'm surprised to see all the negativity. Regin has been terrible, IMO. He should be the 1st one out of the lineup. I'm holding out judgment on PMB because at least he has a history of displaying a high skill set.

Yep. I remember at one point he was on Mike and Mad Dog talking about how he and Lavi had a close relationship and at the time several players complained at Lavi's tactics to motivate them to MM. The assumption was that one of those guys was Yashin who had his icetime cut at the end of the previous playoff series and MM/Wang determined they couldn't have their franchise guy upset and sent Lavi packing. At that point Peca became an outcast and was soon sent on his way as well.

i love your passion

first of all no coach in their right mind would have taken this job two years ago. second they aren't firing cappy after they make the playoffs. third this team has been run off a shoe string budget. fourth if they do nothing next offseason then you have every right to get mad and storm the castle. fifth say what you want about cappy but this team does not get out worked sixth. when the isles win, its all of on tavares carrying the team and when they fail its the organization?? it doesn't work that way you can't whizz into a mr. coffee and drink tasters choice. with all of that being said even though we agree about 10 percent of the time i understand most of your concerns and i fully execpt they will bring in a first line forward and starting goalie next offseason

- Dan Petriw

WOW Dan, you really have the excuse mill operating in overtime mode.

1. You can't say "No Coach would have touched this team." Better coaches have gone to worse organizations in the past 5-7 years.

2. Tortorella and Vaineault teams both made playoffs last year. Both fired in off season.

3. Shoe string budget?? Wang is a BILLIONAIRE! WITH A B! I can understand being responsible with your money but c'mon - you can't cry poor. He makes other revenue from Isles. The term Hockey related revenue was created by owners' to help HIDE other income for CBA purposes. (parking, concessions, other event ticket sales, web sales, etc)

4. Next year is OK to be pissed? Too late... I'm already there.

5. Going back to last season, this team is blowing 3rd period leads more frequent than a Times Square hooker.

6 No, it's not ALL JT when they win, but he is the face and sets the tone for all others to follow. If KO worked as hard in the off season, we'd see big improvements from him. JT doesn't set lines or tell which players to go on the ice or decide who gets benched. That's all the coach. JT leads by example and he does it harder than anyone on the team.

7. You can't set a porcupine on fire, throw him in the garage and expect to get lemonade!

Finally, I don't care how much you agree with me or not. I'm not worried about winning a popularity contest. Your opinions are just that. Opinions. You don't know much more than anyone else here. You watch for twitter updates and TSN but haven't heard you say...I emailed/spoke with/sat down with Garth and he told me he will sign a Top 3 FWD or All-star caliber goalie next year. We've been hearing "Next year" for more than half a decade. It's obvious that it's just a snow job and I'm not buying it anymore. Garth has missed or passed on opportunities to improve this team. That's a fact. The rebuild should be further along.

I have no problem keeping Boulton in the press box for the season and only give him a jersey in an emergency. Yes, I agree keep McDonald and scratch PMB for the time being.

When Clutterbuck is activated you need to make a roster move because you have 24 on the roster...

WRONG, he is not a billionaire. His net worth is $890 million. Of that, very little is liquid. The Isles count as near $150 million with yearly operational losses of $16 million (post cable contract). I need to cut and paste this since I've put it up there so many times. My problems with Charles are more on the plain of sports ethics than financial. If a team is experiencing operational losses of $16 million per year, yet he's kept them afloat, it's awful hard for me to gather up the nerve to complain about him not sinking another $15 million into the sinking ship.

As for last season, I think last year was the first time in many years that we actually found ways to win games late. In the end, that was the big difference for the Isles. Last game was a bad collapse, but my God it's only two games in.

On the bright side, you just have to love Grabners speed and ability to make NHL "D" men look like they are skating in slush.

Shouldnt be long now before he gets his ice time reduced or sent to the press box.

Not that its a big deal but I wonder why Travis was bypassed for wearing the "A". Seems to me that he leaves it on the ice night in and night out. Unlike some others. Just a thought.

Bro relax seriously, i was busting your chops. i thought we had reached that point. i was wrong. as for hockey buzz I don't have press ceditionals. I don't have access to the team. I do know a couple people within the organization and they pass along what they can. I'm doing the best I can to provide a forum where we can talk isles hockey. If you want info inside the locker room you got to get that from Dee right now. I'm not EJ Hradek or Bob Mckenzie.... Takes a while to build those relationships.

We will just agree to disagree on out views on the team.

3 out of 4 points...granted, the gave cbj a few points but they also didnt really deserve the first 2 points in NJ so it cancels out...chill out!!!

and for blowing 3rd period leads that was 2 years ago when they had a .679% winning percentage when leading after 2 periods, last year it was .842%

why are u so upset? they made the playoffs last year and gave the penguins a REAL scare, what exactly are you expecting?? chill out...jagr!??

It's going to be a rollercoaster year SCLI. Some real good things with the same fustrating things as well. I'm going to hope for the best this year and wait to see what happens. If next summer it's the same lousy signing, this board will be something to see. We might as well save our energy.
