Jagr is a WAY better answer than PMB, Regin, Boyes or even KO. Wanna bet who has more points end of season KO or JJ? (I'll take Jagr GIVING 10 - even money, please put your $$$ where your mouth is!)

Duh, captian obvious, we are not playing in a new arena YET but it's built and finalized, lease signed & DONE! I am merely repeating the words of Isles organization in respect that playing for Isles in Coli WAS a factor to attract FA's.

?

First point: I think Jagr is still an offensive force when on the power play but that's it. He can no longer skate fast enough to play effective 5x5 hockey. Part of the problem with our top line is that it allows itself to become pinned in their own zone too often. I'd suggest that has something to do with Moulson being a poor skater/backchecker and Okposo tripping overhimself. Regardless, I don't think Jagr's addition would have helped the top line overall. Anyone who saw him in the playoffs last year could plainly see he can't keep up with the game any longer. In a powerplay situation, fine, but end to end skating..forget it.

As for free agents and the coli, the new stadium is only going to help for guys signing very long term deals. Figure it this way, most UFA's who sign here are likely going to sign a short to mid range term just in case the teams resurgance turns out to be a fluke. So if you're looking for a 2-3 year deal, just how much is the new stadium going to effect that deal for you? Not to mention, the free agent pool sucked this year.

We're two games in, I'd think we can hold off for a bit on condemning the offseason..perhaps til say December?

No. It's on the owner. Snider is obsessed with winning a cup before he dies and is pressuring his GM's to sign players to overpriced contracts for a 'win now' mode that simply doesn't work in the NHL these days. Laviolette obviously has a tendency to burn out on players but 3 games is laughable. That team is beyond desperate.

agreed, but as seen in past situations, it appears laviolette loses the room on every team.....i think he lost philly last year

With Clutterbuck coming back they have to make a roster as they will be one over. Sooo I would think Reinhart goes back to juniors or Nelson goes to bport or Boulton will get waived. Those are the three options

Nelson should not even be an option to go down.

I'm not sure what happened in Carolina, but I think it's safe to say the Isles and Flyers were not 'normal' situations. Milbury mentionied Lavi losing the lockeroom but I think a lot of that had to do with Yashin and one or two other notoriously female dogey players (Hamerlik, Blake etc). At that time, Wang was willing to do anything Mike said.
In Philly, the owner is hellbent on winning and is making one knee jerk reaction after the next. The media has been pressuring the team on this as well in Philly so it's not shocking. Just another in a long line of impulse moves.

Hes been the best player on his line. I wouldn't mind waiving PMB at this point. Its early but I have been very unimpressed with his play. Dare I say that even Boyes looked better last year

Nelson has played his way into his spot here prior to the season starting and has had two solid games (though a defensive lapse or two). I don't see him going anywhere. Regin would be my first choice to dump.

True, but 2 games. What has Garth ever done to make you believe he'd waiver a UFA acquisition after 2 games or even a month?

Right! I'm good with giving guys like PMB more time. Just do not send Nelson back. I'm not looking at panic moves this year. Give Strome and the Dmen all the time they need this year as well. Isles are not ready for prime time this year. I'll repeat from yesterday. This is the last year I want to see guys like PMB brought in. It needs to be these prospects we have been hearing about and better NHL talent than PMB.

They aren't waiving a player they signed to a contract after two games. It's not going to happen. Most likely I think it's Reinhart back to juniors

The reason Lavy lost his job here was because of Mike Peca

Exactly.. it had nothing to do with Yashin.... Peca single handedly had Lavy fired

Can we send Brian Strait to the pressbox ? Tired of watching him get dusted and taking bad angles. That 2nd goal never should of happened on so many levels.

Why did Peca had a problem with Lavy? Was it about his wife?

When you have an owner/GM fire a coach after one bad half year when half your team was hurt and 3 games to start a new year it's pretty obvious to me the coach isn't the problem

I would not mind that and getting a look at Reinhart. If there is any doubt he is ready for the NHL, I want him sent back.

I've heard that said before but was never sure how much stock to put into it. Especially considering Peca suggested displeasure in Lavi's firing after the fact. His comment was that he "didn't see it coming". If it was true, and Peca played that much of a role in it, I have all the less respect for him. I do remember Milbury's comments afterwards saying Lavi had 'lost the lockeroom' and there were plenty or rumors suggesting what players played a factor. It's also noteworthy that Peca only played one more season w/ the Isles after Lavi was gone.
