Ranger was better than Franson tonight

Rielly didn't look good with Franson cause they were playing against the 2nd line, and neither should be doing that (right now anyway).

Putting Rielly against 1st line opposition and expecting him to fair better than he did against 2nd line is pretty wishful thinking.

- Big_Lightnin

1st point is simply no. Franson had a crap first period, playing with a 19 year 1st game ever in the top four - ya I guess he would. Ranger was pretty poop. Actually Ranger has looked crap all three games. Philly was a little better cause they're slower but he still can't handle the speed. But I agree Rielly has no business getting that kind of ice. RC loves him, don't be shocked if Gardner gets traded after the 10th game of the season.

I think he's what teams want. No one wants either of the other two. If there's a return from say edmonton, your getting value, your getting a bag of pucks for ranger. If Rielly is the real deal why have two offensive kids who are liable defensively? This rumour was brought up by Healy but who knows, it kinda makes sense.

Because they are young assets and we are already pretty good upfront? Rielly and Gardiner are the future and will be with us for a long time. You dont just unload guys like that. You create room for them.

You can have a 7 defenders in the future consisting of: phaneuf, percy, rielly, gardiner, franson, macwilliam, fraser, blacker fighting it out for the #6 and #7 spot

you are the most insecure hockey fan I've ever seen. Relax brother! Stop worrying so much about what everyone thinks of the Leafs.
- Gary_B.

Ummmm no, not sure how you come to that conclusion. I'm not worrying about what everyone is saying about the Leafs, I'm laughing my ass off.

Don't understand this post at all.

bozak is so good at faceoffs, he lost alot to spezza. Spezza is 100 times better than bozak at faceoffs and point production. Case closed.
- Mapleleafs_91

if bozak doesn't miss the easy tip into an empty net late 3rd, its over in reg.

It's a good thing Anderson whiffed on Bozak's shootout attempt.

On another note... (frank) abbott what the hell is carlyle thinking, bring (frank)ing leivo up and shove him on the 2nd line geesus christ what is this rocket science? Leivo is more of a threat than abbott and was amazing during preaseason with much more upside and skill. Abbott are you kidding me? 2nd line material? no way in hell.

JVR BOZAK KESSEL

LUPUL KADRI LEIVO

BODIE BOLLAND RAYMOND

DEVANE MCCLEMENT ORR

J. Faulk is there

Edit: In a multi-category, how valuable is Voynov? He'll get points, but not much else

- As_I_See_It

Faulk and Voynov are both excellent options.

Only on a Leafs message board would this be an issue.

Bernier won, so he gets the net for now. Believe it or not, Bernier will eventually lose and Reimer will string together some wins. It'll be back and forth for a while, so don't blow your wad so soon.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Of course bernier will lose, but I just want to see the better goalie play

So does Carlyle. Bernier has to earn it and took a big step last night (with help from poor game from Reimer). My guess is Bernier gets next start and if he plays well will see the number of games he gets increase.

I wouldn't read too much into the Bernier / Reimer night - the Leafs played like crap - especially when Reimer was in net. Bernier was great when he came in and the Leafs were playing better as a whole. It's nice to have this problem of "which awesome goalie do we play tonight" because they will both go through slumps and hopefully the other guy will come in and give the Leafs the chance to win. w00t.

Leafs have increased their shots per game.......their shooting % has dropped as expected but their goal scoring hasn't been affected.

actually, I thought both teams played really really sloppy for the majority of the first two periods.

If I was an Ottawa fan I would be seriously concerned about Karlsson... seemed slow for him and appeared pretty disinterested... which is unusual.

On the Leafs side I think Reimer paid the price for incredibly bad d-zone coverage and not just by the defensemen.. the forwards were out of position most of the time...

ugly win, and I hate the shoot out.. certainly won't go down as any kind of game to remember in the "Battle of Ontario"

agreed... only goal he appeared (to me) to be bad on was the Spezza goal.

I haven't the all-knowing Corsi game analysis yet this morning... of course that is the most important thing.

Bernier is going to run with it. He's more solid, rebound control and stick handling. Of course the game wasn't all Reimers fault as the team made some huge errors in front of him, defense and forwards included.

Only Phaneuf played steady For the D -

Our forwards are looking solid , couple weak back checks - come back a little harder and maybe we beat them in regulation.

I don't think that was an easy tip, but sure would have been nice if he buried it.

Forwards looked real good out there, JVR is flying - Mason is a much improved upgrade on MAcArthur ( he did have a strong game, which surprised me )
