Against Joey Mac....

It's going to be a bit weird not seeing Kipper and Iggy on the Flames this year, it's been so long with those 2 as the faces of their franchise.

Not that I'm complaining.

I understand its beneficial to there careers to be down there another year. But I dont think anyone could say that these two dont belong on this roster over soe of these fukking slugs we we have.

You don't plug 18/19/20 year olds on the 4th line when they can play big minutes elsewhere, unless the 4th line is the absolute ceiling for their skill set.

They don't belong on an NHL roster yet.

It was glaringly apparent. Anybody who thinks otherwise either didn't watch camp, or is kidding themselves.

U still hate torts?
- Bieksa#3

Hate is a strong word. I actually find him amusing from an entertainment perspective and don't doubt his passion and loyalty to his players. It's the system he's intending to bring that I have a serious disagreement with and a victory at home over the Oilers isn't about to change my opinion.

Even though I wouldn't have ever hired him I've always said I'm willing to give him and his coaching the benefit of the doubt. I want us to play well and win above all. We did that last night.

Agree with this. It's not their time yet. Although I can see them getting the call and adding a spark in the playoffs.

Hodgson is a bonified top 6 even top three forward. He played nowhere except our bottom six.

I still don't think he's as defensive-minded as you think he is. His forecheck and puck pressure is a lot better than AV's(2 man forecheck instead of AV's one man forecheck). The Canucks blocked around as many shots as the Rangers last year. The only thing I was worried about was that he'd sit on multi-goal leads big time like he did in NY, but hopefully it's more like last night and they continue with an aggressive forecheck. Way too early to tell what the season-long trends will be, but this won't be a trap team.

I can only compare to his time at NYR where I saw a team that played a low-scoring and rather negative style of hockey during his tenure. Oh yeah, and they didn't win anything either. It's not the style of hockey I'd like to see adopted on the team that I support.

But I agree, it may not be that way for Torts this time around in Vancouver. We haven't seen the final product yet, so I've only got his previous role to go by. I obviously hope it goes well.

All I know is I haven't seen this team play a complete 60 with 2 forecheckers the whole time AV was around. If this trend of play continues I will be very happy. I don't know if Torts style is low scoring. I think certain opponents they face his style will seem that way but specific lines they face are going to be tougher and they will have to adjust to be more defensive. That does not necessarily translate to low scoring.

I don't understand why PJ Stock is on that panel. He has never provided me with a perspective that I didn't already know. His contribution is minimal at best.

Because he wasn;t good enough top be in our top 6. He can;t play wing. He's great offensively. But we couldn't take Kesler out of the middle to coddle Hodgson. Bonafied top 3? Ya maybe on the worst team in the league. You don;t win with Hodgson players in your top 3 thats f*cking laughable. If any playoff teams plays Buffalo and looks at their roster and sees Cody Hodgson first line center they lick their chops. Guaranteed he's considered by many the easiest player in the league to play against. The only time you have to watch him is when he's in the offensive zone with room. Fantastic in that aspect.

Hodgson played all his JR eligible years and two seasons in the AHL.

He didn't miss out on crucial years of development.

I think Miley Cyrus licking a hammer may actually have improved that video. Please tell me only people in Vancouver saw that and the did not make it on the intern..n..... crap.

By the way, I strongly feel Glenn Healy was just waiting to snipe at something Torts did... no matter what. He sees an opportunity to advance his career by being opportunistic and trying to start something that was not there. It looked pretty clear to me that the others on the "Hotstove" felt the same way as they backed away from his comments.

It's really quite sad that Healy would try to pick a fight and throw down insults to a person known for Media issues... however entertaining... it underlies a problem with Healy's unprofessionalism and insincerity as he throws punches at someone just to expect a reaction so people will remember Healy's name.

To me, it is the equivalent of badgering a sober alcoholic into drinking and if he does or does not... will still provoke and ridicule the man.

So Healy has lost any semblance of professionalism and seems to have his sights on building a reputation on Torts back to get Don Cherry's Job or onto NBC. Perhaps just to gain the clout of a Larry Brooks.

But I would argue that even the remaining members of the hotstove do not give a sh!t was Healy says.

Their team is a disaster. I'm an Eli fan, but wtf is he doing. Both of those 4th quarter ints are 100% on him. No idea what he was thinking on the 1st one and he unnessasarily forced the 2nd one

I wonder how the people who said Griffin 3 will be better then Luck are feeling. Luck is the next Peyton. How can one franchise get that lucky

Great QBs in the league right now. Love the new (and some old) crop of QBs.

The difference between Healy and Torts is when Torts responds to the media his reaction is genuine and not calculating. Healy calculated how he wanted to respond and did so in an inappropriate manner. He had lots of time to think about how to be an a$$hole. Most people who have time to think about what they are going to say usually find the right words without come across as ... well a Glen Healy.
