I dont think the mix back there especially, and slightly regarding the offense is good enough. Or anywhere near it. I predicted them to be flirting with a playoff spot, and probably finishing slightly outside of it before the season began. Its what they have shown me as well, in a small 2 game sample size also.

I just have no hope in Holmgren being able to direct this team properly, and spend money wisely.

This league has trended downward on offense for 25 years now, so maybe three or four guys in the entire league can get to 50 now.

I think what you will realistically see is them bring in Murray around the 10-15 game mark. Holmgren will have to wait to make a trade, I dont think teams are really looking so early in the season.

Snider gets pissed off after they miss the playoffs, and Hextall is brought in during the summer.

They could hire David Poile as GM, as long as Ed Snider's the owner, they are spending to the salary cap.

Again, I can't properly judge what they have on hand as long as it's used incorrectly. I know Coburn can't make a Pronger like outlet pass. So I can't judge him when the coach is demanding he do so.

Hindsight is the only way to really evaluate a GM.

I'm off for tonight, but frankly I dont think many teams would have spent the money Holmgren has. They havent, as he employs the most expensive d-core in the league.

We all have our gripes with the team though, no worries. Mine just starts at the top.

Bryz looked the same in Philly as he did in Phoenix, even had similar stats. The team in front made Bryz look good, like any good, great or elite goalie in the league, they need a team in front of them.

Painful.

For the 2nd game in a row the best player in a Flyers jersey was the goalie, imo.

Flyers really need to get better passing.

It's WHO you have playing defense. See if you can find the goal that the Blackhawks used to close out the LA Kings in last year's Western Conference final.

Toews blocked a shot, and he and Patrick Kane went in on the rush, and Kane puts one in the top corner, off the pass. Series over.

I'm just at the point where I want to see somebody utilize the players in a better manner to get a good read on what they can and can't do on a regular basis.

Who knows, maybe they really do suck? But you won't get a true answer by judging a guy who is routinely put in a bad spot harshly.

And yeah, if you're going to have Laviolette as your coach, and stick with it, then assemble a team more suited to his game plan.

Exactly -- when you flat-out can't score, the first thing you do is find guys who can!

You can't win games in that league by not scoring at even strength -- it's damn-near impossible!

Aside from the D I think this is becoming a legitimate concern. G is trying to do way too much out there. Unfortunately its going to be hard to address both needs in a timely manner.

You are not going to be successful in a transition game when your passes out of your own end by the defenseman are either inaccurate or floating off the glass...Thats where our offense starts, but is not starting...plain and simple, and for anyone who blames goaltending, what do you want them to do start scoring goals also
