great pickup for a million, i'm happy with him but yes, the kid is afraid of his own shadow.
- clark_griswold

We were paying him more than twice that but yes, for $1m he's good value.

The defence and the Sedins are not what I am worried about.
- thundachunk

Exactly! Anyone who constantly rags on the twins needs to prioritize their b!tch sessions. They've done nothing but produce and be effective players over the past several years, the same can't be said for the rest of the forwards. Except Cody

The real test comes tomorrow against a league bottom feeder.

7-4 for the Nucks.

Watched the Game last night, the team is capable of better, Lou was good, Sedins as always...

But I sure saw why you guys were complaining about the bottom 6

The Canucks are a team that is built for, and loves scoring artistic goals. Pretty passing plays that exploit defensive breakdowns. Unfortunately what wins hockey games in the NHL now is stopping such plays, clogging the front of the net with behemoths, and having some defenceman shoot the puck in off someone's pants. Hooray!

This team is not constructed for the new, New NHL and that won't change for some time with all their long term contracts and NTC's. Their faster forwards aren't strong enough to force their way to the front of the net and stay there, and their defence as a group aren't strong enough to police their own zone.

Although the Canucks still have enough skill to remain just below the upper echelon during the regular season, it will take major improvements in both Kassian and Booth plus a whole lot of luck for this group to ever go on another run.

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game 1: Same As It Ever Was
The Vancouver Canucks open the 2013-14 season under new coach John Tortorella by dropping a 4-1 decision to the San Jose Sharks.

- Carol Schram

Well, that's it. Season is as good as done. The first game of the year is always the best predictor of how the rest of the year will unfold. Especially when it's the teams first game under a new coach. I'm thinking of getting off the bandwagon. Only 81 games left, that's not enough time. Stick a fork in this team, they are done.

The Rangers under Torts got stronger as the game wore on . The conditioning he puts them thru in training camp payed off for the Rangers . Plus the fore checking and pounding of the D usually payed off for them in the third . Give torts sometime with them . I'm a Ranger fan and wasn't happy with the AV signing but we did play a more up tempo style last night . Couple of stupid penalties that cost us big time that under Torts they didn't take to often .

I'd think of suicide but I have to spend a $3500 tax return first, maybe I'll just go out in style, well as much style that $3500 will provide.

Same team, Same result. No cup. They suck
- 269malibus

You're very observant. I was really hoping for them to be presented with the Cup last night too. Maybe next year.

How can we get rid of $7 million dollars in salary to trade for Vanek?

Oilers suck defensively! High scoring game tomorrow night, twins with four points each in a 6-4 win for the home team.

Give Buffalo something of value and make them eat some of the salary in return.

We could start with Booth and a gun cleaning accident.

Canucks came out flying. It was 2-1 late... Lou played great, I said all summer he is the player we are least concerned about.

Booth looked to be favoring his groin, I highly doubt he stays off the ir much longer.

I was going to say Kesler to Edmonton for a draft pick and a prospect (Nurse?)...

His skating did look really laboured, he's either really out of shape or his injuries are just not healed properly?

It was one game on the road that was close until the 5 minute mark of the third period. Everybody needs to relax. The Sedins looked strong imo. They're going to have a big year.

Booth's salary is really handcuffing Gillis right now...where's Booner to help me out with this right now.
