not at all, I said it yesterday. If they weren't keeping Laughton, I really wish they would have brought Gagne back

Yep. Now, cap and a bruised ego might make it impossible, but it's what I'd prefer all things equal.

If the Flyers have "more than enough offensive talent," then by all means, answer this question: What did 13 of the top 16 highest-scoring teams in the NHL at even strength have in common last season?

I'll answer that one for you: Those 13 teams all made the playoffs.

Whatever gets Rosebud out of the lineup and allows for the 4th-line to take a regular shift.

I'm gonna get (some) Hell for this, but Gagne seems like a better 3rd line fit than Newbury. I had no problem with Laughton there, but if Newbury is the answer, I'd prefer Gagne on the 3LW and Talbot on the 4th.
- jmatchett383

great point...i think Gagne would excel on the third line and could bounce around in the top 6 if needed.

He put on quite the display after Orr knocked him into next week. His dog and pony show going to the box was amusing.

personally im glad they didnt bring him back

can you imagine the drama if they ever decided he needed to be a healthy scratch like he was in LA?

- Crimsoninja

LA brought him into their lineup and were thinking he'd still be a 25/30 goal scorer. He didn't have a place in their lineup.

I don't want a 4th line Winger to get more then the 6 minutes or so that Rosehill got in game 1. If the 4th line plays more, that means somebody else has to play less. The only time I want the 4th line playing more then that, is if they have a good lead, and are using it as a checking line late in games.

Because you'd be all smiles and all happy and full of joy if you got cross checked in the chest by Colton Orr.

It was a hockey check, and part of the game. The only part of it that was questionable, was that is was a touch late. Otherwise it was a good hit.

To be fair, Orr crosschecked him in the face.. kind of crossed the line there.

even if it was cheap, Fraser went after Giroux or somebody and Rosehill didn't like it. Good for him.

It wasn't exactly the face but it was high enough up on the chest to infer Orr wanted to get Rosey's attention, which it obviously did.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to get the ref's attention to call a major/misconduct.

cant root for any city that prides itself on putting fries on a sandwich

There used to be a college dive dinner at UofD called "No Name" They used to sell ping pong balls and were open till 3 am to give you an idea of what kind of place this was.

Anyway they had this one sandwhich called "The Bomb". And there were about 50 versions of the bomb, but every bomb had Chicken Fingers, Motzeralla sticks, and french fries with some kind of cheese baked on a sub roll. Some bombs would have BBQ sauce, some Ranch, Honey mustard. Some would have extra topping like Bacon or onion rings.

Anyway, it tasted wonderful, but well.... it wasnt that great for you. Good drunk/stoner food though. Wish that place was still there.

I am still not pleased with the way the season started

Someone previously mentioned the split squad having an effect on team chemistry and I am in agreement. Whats the use of all the extra players that have no chance making it up this time clogging things up ? Looking for a miracle ?

I dont like messing the with top lines chemistry. There are intangible things and sometimes its just that which ends up working. Read, Vinnie and Simmonds on the second line, I dont care if Brayden Schenn is a 3 million dollar salary, pay should not dictate what line you are on but thats the GM/scouts issues- we are paying him and he has to be penciled in there. He may have had a great game and scored the only goal, but are you ready to screw all the other lines for one player ???

I hated the way they looked constantly making stupid desperate plays into nothing 3rd period and making the Leafs look like the 76-79 Canadiens or 80-84 Islanders.

I think the players hands are tight and they have no confidence in the system no matter what is said publicly. They are not loose confident and agressive/opportunistic at the right time.

Anyone else remember how the team looked before they fired Hitch ? Certain players were just blasting shots in the opposing goalies pads including Mike Richards, shots that were nothing more than agressive warm up shots, no hope of rebound or getting through.

I smell failure and changes, its not negativity, its the same declining results year after year especially against good defensive teams of men who can stay on their skates, have speed, size, strength and good hockey sense/coaching.

Man I would love to be proved wrong but when this lineup cant score two goals against a back to back game team, even against a good solid golatender like Bernier, there are problems, its more than one thing

Playing Schenn on the 2nd line, and Read on the 3rd line, doesn't ruin all the other lines. I think it balances out the lines better. I want Voracek on the top line. The Flyers played a significantly different style in game 1 system wise then they did all of last Season. So I don't see any lack of confidence in the system issues.

Hartnell doesn't need to be on the ice for almost 22:00 partly because they're scared to match Rosehill up against anybody but Orr. Giroux played a Pronger-esque 26:00. Is it any wonder the team ran out of gas by the 3rd period if they have forwards playing dman minutes?

They need a 4th-line that can eat some minutes, and as long as Rosie is out there, it ain't happening.

Hartnell played 22 minutes because they had 7 powerplays. The same reason Giroux played 26 minutes and LSchenn only played 14 minutes.

Yeah, love how he acted like he didn't just get done taking a cheap run at Fraser...

God forbid he stick up for his teammate by hitting Fraser in the shoulder. He really deserved to be cross checked in the neck for that.

Flyers are a good team who played a good, unlucky game on Wednesday.

Brayden Schenn's going to have a big offensive season. Hopefully the coaching staff has more patience than the majority in here.

Big key will be goaltending. Don't need a Vezina winner. Just a guy that won't kill you with soft and/or untimely goals -- like Bryz was prone to.

That had absolutely zero to do with Colton Orr. Or because they're scared to match up Rosehill against anyone. The icetimes had to do with the score of the game and being down a goal. And that they had 7 PP's. And only 2 penalties against. The Coach also had the ability to play Couturier and his line more in the game, if they wanted to play Giroux and Hartnell less. 6 mintes a game is about all you want a 4th line playing as a line. Blaming that on being afraid of matching up Rosehill against any line other then the Orr line, doesn't hold water. They also had the option of scratching Rosehill, and playing Laughton, if they didn't like the matchups.
I don't want the 4th line as a line playing anymore then they did.
