First of all, nobody hates Franson, so you can stop trying to turn this into a black and white, UG-style pissing contest.

Secondly, how would anything he has done this year invalidate the fact that he was one of our weakest defensemen last year in his own end of the ice?

He looks alright so far. We're all happy for that. But let's not go anointing him the next savior and placing unrealistically high expectations on him. He very well may have made some strides in the off-season, but he's still not close to a legit #1.
