No comparison.

Once we traded Colborne, I realized he was nothing but a plug.

Ashton is the real deal.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

On a serious note, yes I'll admit that I was the guy advocating for keeping Colborne. A 6'5" centre is something the Leafs could surely use. But wow, did the guy not impress in the pre-season. I was at the Buffalo game, and I was specifically watching him to see if he could do anything to justify my blind faith in him.

Agreed but I would say we are just getting to the point where we have high end prospects (from keeping draft picks) are coming of age.... It will be interesting to see how Biggs, Percy, Gauthier, Rielly, blacker and Finn turn out

Sadly, he didn't. Plenty of giveaways in our end. Nothing offensively.

2 games in, and I'm loving Bolland, so I'm not regretting giving up on Colborne.

But I am troubled by the re-emergence of the Leafs' pattern of giving up on prospects. Frattin gone. Colborne gone.

Yes, I'm happy with the Bernier trade. But we really need to start proving we can develop our own prospects (yeah, I know, Colborne wasn't drafted by us, but you get the idea).

From Garth's blog:

"So, why not dress Kassian to combat Scott?

Who’s Scott going to dance with now? Chris Neil?"

My guess is either Karlsson or Spezza. I think Karlsson is smaller so probably him.

(and yes I AM ashamed I wandered into a Garth blog)

seriously?!?! SERIOUSLY!?!?!

People on here talking about Leafs giving up on their own "prospects" and using Scrivens/Frattin for Bernier as example?

WTF people? That trade was beyond a steal for the Leafs...

Maybe if NYI come knocking for Reimer and offer Strome we should say no because we don't "give up" on our own "prospects".

Hell, who cares about your own prospects in trades...the only thing that matters is what the return is......EVERY NHL hockey player is tradable.

Jonas Siegel on twitter: Randy Carlyle said he's had goaltending plans drawn out for a while. Would think Reimer's history vs. Ottawa would seal decision (1.69 GAA).

Expect us to run Bernier though the stretch of West games. Sucks to sit the guy for a week after that performance though

Screw Frattin.

If he scores on that breakaway in the third period of game 7 against Boston, we win that game.

We win that series.

Hell, we go on and win the Stanley Cup.

The drought continues because of Frattin.

I hate that guy.

I always will.

Nah, that just would have meant that Reimer would have had another goal to give up in the dying seconds.
The leafs still would have lost.

Giving up mid 20's prospects for a mid 20's for better mid 20's prospects is not a re-emerging pattern for the leafs at all.

Its not even that, reimer won first game, bernier won, reimer starts again, if reimer loses obviously bernier starts, if bernier wins, he starts the next match again. I think its simply whoever loses first scenario

You know its true.
The way the leafs and Reimer played the last 10 minutes....they could have had a 6 goal and still would have lost.
