I though B Schenn was one of the best Flyers forwards last night. Liked what I saw from him. Laviolette apparently did also. He gave him 19:54 of icetime. Which put him 3rd among Flyer forwards in ice time last night.

I'm gonna disagree. I don't know what it was specifically, but he just didn't seem to be in the flow of that line, goal or no goal. Seemed a bit apprehensive, to me. Just one game though, so we'll see where he ends up.

Same here, both looked good. The flyers have some figuring out to do for a balanced lineup, though. Starting with jake back on top. Have to believe he's not 100% or he would have been there. Lines 2 and 3 is where it gets interesting.

I didn't see the explosiveness that Voracek normally has, so I think he might not be quite 100%.

He came out with a purpose, that's for sure. Thought he quieted down a bit as the game progressed, but he was also move around a bit. I think it's important for the flyers to come up with some lines and let them roll for a little while.

I saw the opposite. I saw him involved, and going to net consistently. One of the best forwards last night, no doubt. His ice time points that out.

Well, like I said, we're just gonna disagree. He looked involved in the beginning, but seemed to get progressively slower as the game wore on.

Really the entire team quieted down as the game went on.

Guys please tell me the logic of scratching Laughton for game #1 and then loaning him to Oshawa the day after...

Overall Vinny was very good. Very solid pick up for them.

Still want to see Schenn, Simmer, and Couturier take steps forward this season. I think a lot depends on that. Lots of hockey to come for them to do so.

Cooter didn't show me anything last night. He was better in the preseason.

Also, for all of the talent that he has, Giroux sometimes tries too much. He CAN beat all 4 defenders is a staggered 1-2-2 constrained in the defensive zone, but it's not advisable. He tried it maybe 3-4 times, I think he gained 1 weak shot from it.

It's true. Just can't figure out yet where I'd like to see him. No matter how I slice it I keep landing on read to the 3rd line with Simmonds Vinny and Schenn on the second.

Not a knock on reader, more a salute to his 2 way play.

I asked the same thing, but the best we could come up with was that it was done as a paper move for the cap. He was on the roster as a low paid rookie until Pronger was placed on LTIR.

You're right, it doesn't really matter. The end result was a Flyers PP. That's what happened. But some want to use "ifs" to criticize Rosehill on the play. That's what I object to. Especially when that criticism isn't objective.

I feel like that whole line didn't get much ice time. I could be wrong, but seemed like it.

I wonder if the reason that Voracek wasnt on the top line because when the 3 of them get together they try and get too cute.

Simmonds should start taking a fall here or there. Simmer Down has a nice ring to it.

Talbot and Couturier got 11 minutes, so you were right. He really should be on the 2nd PP unit ahead of Meszaros.

Coots did at least go 8/11 on faceoffs.

Hard to say, Schenn is more of a spark plug than a fancy pants, but i think g and Giroux are too good together to split up. I don't think that line will have many issues. Makes no sense for jake to he stashed on the 3rd line unless he's hurting. Tho with Lavi who knows. It will become clearer in a week or two.

Laughton will be in the lineup tonight for Oshawa according to the team's site.

I think a big issue is how the PP is set up. You have Simmers and Jake on the top unit despite playing on 2nd and 3rd lines. Then you have Schenn and Vinny and Read on the second. So by the time the PP is over, you dont have a normal line to throw out there....

Jake got 16, but he started getting more minutes late in the game on the top line.

I wouldn't mind that problem if they had done better than 1-7 on the PP, or whatever it was. Last nights lineup just felt kinda weird all over. I thought the defense was paired well, but aside from that a lot of curve balls were thrown.
