Laughton back to juniors? Why?

http://t.co/atk0q7pkz0

- mcefalu

It's right in the article you linked and it's a theory I happen to agree with:

From the article: "Laughton didn’t have as good a camp this time around as he did last January when he made the team on merit and was able to get into those five NHL games."

ROSTER UPDATE: Laughton has been loaned to @Oshawa_Generals & Newbury has been recalled from @PhantomsHockey. MORE: http://nhlflye.rs/GBih0B

Another goon!

- PLindbergh31

Newbury is not a goon like Rosehill is. He scores a lot of points in the AHL.

It's weird. They could have done that on September 30th and not have had to waive Hall, right?
- Feanor

I assume so. I think we can all agree we don't need Newbury AND Rosehill at the ready. I suppose I'd rather have Newbury/Rosehill sitting as the 13th forward and not playing than someone like McGinn who is at least getting minutes in the A

True, but at the NHL level they serve very similar roles

i thought streit looked bad, he made a poor effort on a keep on the powerplay and overall made bad passes and bad decisions with the puck
- kej83

Were you watching a different game? Streit had a really good game. Nice puck movement, great shots on net. PP assist. Just one lapse IMO.

Right but why wait to send him back. I guess it doesn't really matter, just seems weird.

And at age 31 he's primed to crack an NHL roster

I took the missing spotlight on him during last nights introductions as a bad omen

Edit: conveniently it came back on for gusty. Read between the lines

Laughton didn't play well enough in camp to earn a roster spot. Today's decision validates that. I'm glad Laughton was returned, it's the right decision. He's not NHL ready.

The fact for the time being Rosehill becoming a regular, and Newbury as the 13th forward is a waste of everyone's time.

At this point I think it has to happen. Maybe last night was what Carolina needed to see in order to take Meszaros or Grossmann. I definately think at this point it is imperative to get a 3rd line player. Where is Gagne?

I was thinking the same. I thought mez looked good enough considering how much time he's missed lately.

Probably nagging his agent while getting a tune up for his Lambo?

Yep. I mean, losing to the Maple Leafs really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But there was already a bad taste from last year. Still, there were positives, and it's only the first game.

Feelings on that hip, new goal song?

I'd prefer it be the other way around.....i.e.: Newbury becoming a regular and Rosehill as the 13th man.

Well now that Laughton's 1 million is off the books, how much money do the Flyers have with the LTIR. I would love to offer Gagne a contract. It woudl really solidify all 3 lines.

Doubtful. They're content with Rosehill as a regular 4th liner, unfortunately.

Maybe we just leave one of them in Carolina after the game on Sunday?

I'm hoping they go with a Rosehill/Rinaldo/Newbury 4th line. Entertainment.

Yes, by all means, let's get rid of a defender who looks like he's getting back into form. Can't have 6 actual in their prime NHL defensemen at one time. It's against the rules. We all want to see Gill out there every night.

I agree, although the timing of the moves doesn't make any sense. They could have avoided having to send Hall to waivers if Laughton was sent back to juniors right after preseason since it seems like the Flyers never planned to dress Laughton. Again, the end result is still the same so it doesn't really matter. Flyers management is all up in my head!

I miss #doop already. TNT doesn't bother me, but it feels very... bland.
