Yeah...not sure. For some reasons 10 games or 24 days sounds familiar.

CBA Section 50.10(d)

In the event that a Player on a Club becomes unfit to play (i.e., is injured, ill or disabled and unable to perform his duties as a hockey Player) such that the Club’s physician believes, in his or her opinion, that the Player, owing to either an injury or an illness, will be unfit to play for at least (i) twenty-four (24) calendar days and (ii) ten (10) NHL Regular Season games, and such Club desires to replace such Player, the Club may add an additional Player or Players to its Active Roster, and the replacement Player Salary and Bonuses of such additional Player(s) may increase the Club’s Averaged Club Salary to an amount up to and exceeding the Upper Limit

As stated in the CBA excerpt above, the player being placed on LTIR must be unfit to play for at least 24 calendar days and 10 games. Assuming those conditions are met, the team would be allowed to exceed the upper limit by that player’s cap hit. Please note the phrasing “exceeding the Upper Limit”, which is very different from the player’s cap hit simply not counting.

Reading through the comments, everyone seems so negative, yeah we were sloppy. But we won the game, if good teams find a way to win games they are outplayed in, what does that make us?

I really liked Franson's play again, I thought he was our best D-man, he played the body and was effective. Gardiner played the way Carlyle wanted him too, I don't like the way Carlyle is handling Gardiner, I get he's trying to work on his defensive game but telling him not to be as engaged offensively concerns me.

Phaneuf was good, he made a good play on the Kessel goal and played the body all night. Overall the D has to be tighter but that's a big win on the road, on a back to back night.

The Leafs just started off the season with wins in back to back games, on the road, and you guys are whining, female doging and complaining. (frank) me.

When they lose you'll see them praising the team.

I'm real happy with the two wins....

Just not cool with Nonis goin all Captain Save A Hoe, and signing the bleeding heart story of the Rusty Ranger.

a lot of guys pooping on ranger. gotta remember he hasn't played in 4 years...give him some time yo. if anything, more ice time might be the best thing for him to get back into it.

not really, you will eventually get pissed off at the other teams fan base...
Remember how Ottawa and Montreal had a mutual respect for each other before last years playoffs? look how that turned out lol
