That's true if you take out the playing defense part of it
- Vukota

Hes there to put up points. Plus the whole Isles team didnt really play defense his whole time there.

I'm saying that in order for Hank to truly have a shot at winning a cup, he needs to be the 2nd better yet 3rd best player on the team. I'm not a fan of the goalie being the best player on the team.
- OLDSCHOOL#6

I hear you, but how many superstar free agents are there for the Rangers to pick up to justify losing Hank? Most superstars get locked up by their respective teams

I like to equate goalies to a pitching staff in baseball. They have to be the best part of your team if you want to win IMO

Not the biggest Streit supporter especially after his last season for the Isles but I would still take him over Zidlicky

Chicago and Niemi beg to differ. When they won he wasnt that good a goalie. You could kick a beach ball and score up high on him. Hes been better in SJ. Corey Crawford isnt even that good. He's solid. But not good. They got prolly 6 guys on that team that are light years better than him.

I don't like your tone. We had the cap space, and it was a one year deal, so it's a patch at best, as our youthful defenders mature in the minors. WHen the kings sustain excellence for nearly 30 years then your org will have room to comment on other's moves. As it stands now, you're the West coast penguins that benefited from years of suckage, and FINALLY did something worthy of a cup.

I gotcha but he is also there to play some D as well. He is good on the O side of the game and he is a train wreck on the D side of things. Whether its Montreal, Isles and now Flyers. Not killing the guy he is what he is

I would have taken any of the 4 players Lou sent down to the minors over Zid. His defensive capability is non-existent, and it takes a lot to look out of place as a devil's defender considering their system.

I still think that 98% of your fan base didnt want him back. I like him for what he brings. But he isnt what he used to be. Now hes a huge liability. But atleast it means you dont have to rush some young guns. Maybe lose Urbom to waivers.

Well, I keep hoping that of the current Rangers, a couple of have superstar type year, I'm afraid it's the only way it's going to happen.

Fair enough but not every team is stacked like the Blackhawks. Most teams count on solid goal tending to keep them in it. Are there exceptions? Of course but if the Penguins had Hank how many titles would they have won by now?

I dont understand this....the Rangers should be saying, tell us what you want, and then they should sign the cheque. I would just say, we can pay anything up to the highest paid player in the league...end of story. I dont think he's gonna balk at 9mil!

Man, how I have never liked MAF. Pitt's needs a Hank. But they could never afford a Hank with Crosby and Malkin. Unless they didnt have quality players through out the rest of the roster.

they sure do, unfortunately we can't follow the Blackhawks model because we'll never be worst in the league and get the top pick in the draft.

Probably three or four, and that's my point. On the Pens Hank is at least the 3rd maybe 4th best player on the team.

Penguins, another team built with a few years of having first or second overall picks
