Jersey is paying Travis Zajac 5.75 million a year for some reason
- jimbro83

Gotta overpay to get people to sign there. Even then theres a risk they might quit.

well you said that Cally is not worth a penny more than 5 million, and I am not sure if there is a person involved in hockey who'd rather have Zajac over Callahan
- jimbro83

I didn't want Zajac to stay for a penny more than 4 million but sadly Lou wouldn't take my calls. He wasn't worth more than 4 when Zpar was still here, and he's proven to be half the player since his departure. Now that we've cleared the air on that, I still wouldn't want Cally at 6 million.

Obviously signing free agents isn't very important than since we've been to the finals more than any team in hockey except the wings in the past 20 years.

on the open market, Cally is going to get offers around that number, there is no getting around that fact.

If Ryane Clowe was able to get a 5 million a year deal with the cap going down and 3 concussions in two weeks with the Rangers coming off a 2 goal year, Ryan Callahan will get many offers at least 6 mil a year, I assure you. Especially with cap going up

True enough. Contracts are always based on demand and rarely on performance. Case in point, Clarkson, Clowe, Streit, etc.

Both guys will stay and retire a Ranger. Hank is to much a stud to let walk away.

Certainly uncharacteristic, but having a star player in their prime, retire, is hardly a scenario any GM is prepared for.

I think they are doing everything possible to make sure they don't have the P.R. nightmare of having to forfeit a lottery pick next June

I'm going on record right now. If Hank leaves I'll be unhappy, if Callahan leaves I'll be extremely unhappy..

I'm more pissed due to the years of cap hit we'll endure because of that d-bag.

I think his next move is likely retirement, where he'll live out his days licking the windows of a very small bus. If he stays healthy, he'll contribute, even though not at a rate that will justify his salary, but still a good player. If he gets another concussion, break out the foam helmet.

I can't believe Isles fans think they'll make the post season in a full 82 game season, with father time between the pipes.

I'm saying that in order for Hank to truly have a shot at winning a cup, he needs to be the 2nd better yet 3rd best player on the team. I'm not a fan of the goalie being the best player on the team.

San Jose dodged a bulle with Clowe. I actually think the Isles will make the playoffs again. Even losing Streits offense. They got some young guys that are on the rise. And Tavares is a stud.
