Is it me or does every goalie 'stand on his head' when they play the Flyers? Or do we just not have accurate shooters?
- jstross

We have Simmonds and Hartnell, you can start there...Why those 2 players are on the same PP unit is beyond me, they cant stickhandle the puck worth poop.

Note how Voracek is now on the first line, not third, he should have been there all game. Also, Mason is a back up, period. Emery instills confidence.
- flyerdude17

Mason was very good tonight. Can't blame him for any of the 3. Good god

Uh no.

We're not breaking up the Read/Vinny/Simmonds line

- Giroux_Is_God

I'd be cool with that.

I feel better after this game than I thought I would. I'm not worrying about the PP. They had their chances and the leafs were #2 PK last year.

Sometimes you just don't get the breaks or a goalie gets hot.

- PhillySportsGuy

That's what I saw -- a couple of tough breaks on the PP.

Still not sure why they can't get anything going 5v5. Just don't know what the answer is to that.

They looked good, and Bernier was stellar, especially in the first. They got a ton of chances and couldn't finish.

I don't like that they didn't have an answer for the late trap, but at that point the frustration's setting in and the Leafs did a good job.

The double screen they provide is very successful. I get why we put them both on the same PP unit. Teams collapse down low and Hartnell and Simmer are tough to handle down low.

I think you're overreacting. There are 81 games left in the season. They played pretty well. If they out chance every team like they did tonight, they will have a very good year.

Why do I have to base it on anything? Aren't I entitled to MY opinion? You make yours clear, but I disagree with you. And I'm not arguing why I wouldn't of given him $8 million a year.
- Flyers1218

You don't have to base it on anything. You can just randomly think that he's not worth 8M a year, if you choose to.

kimmo was terrible tonight imo. Streit and Vinny looked great - very excited to have them.

Did Couts even play? He did very little tonight.

Bernier did not look like an "unproven" goaltender.

It is so difficult to score on teams late in games. Especially teams that play the trap. They had their chances throughout. I'm fairly optimistic after watching this game

I thought they played with purpose and really, they should have knocked this team out in the 1st period.

I was happy with the effort and I think they'll be fine. I do. Make up for it this Saturday.

winning on the scoreboard isn't always a clear indicator of a game. Bernier won this game for the Leafs

Not Mason's fault, but we need a good start this year. We can't begin the year like last season and hope it's all going to be fine. I think they really needed to put last year and a bad preseason behind them. Didn't happen.
I remember after the 06/07 season, we started strong in 07/08 and it really set the tone.

I think he (and the staff) get a share of the blame. Still the same old "no answer for a hardworking trap" situation. Players get their share for not converting on so many PP chances, and the coverage breakdowns. Plenty to go around imo.
- BringBack25

Please when you have that many PP and a penalty shot and all you have is 1 goal that isn't on the coach it's on the players. Lava has issues but this game wasn't his fault.

do the flyers desreve to win?

no, bc the leafs came to play on a back to back.

And their coverage down low was superior to the Flyers.

And if you give me the choice, I'll take the leafs lineup everday as opposed to the flyers.

cant blame lava tonight

I like the flyers effort tonight. I think I prefer Jake with Hartnell and G.
- nastyflyergirl

Same here. The 3rd period was disappointing. Just need to clean a few things up, but there were some good things. Once the Leafs scored in the beginning of the 3rd, the Leafs shut it down. Giroux is still a little rusty, and the PP didn't click.

Yeah it's all Lavy's fault ...guy needs to put the puck in the net himself

I disagree, you need one guy infront of the net, not both, the other 4 need to be able to handle the puck and be somewhat creative, you get the puck on their stick and they turn it over numerous times....
