In the end im just disappointed to see Laughton scratched for Rosehill, despite the reason/logic behind it.
- funmaster18

That bugs me more than Rosehill dressing. If you're going to keep the kid up in the NHL, let him play. He's not going to develop sitting in the press box with Homer and grabbing beers for Joe Watson

Agreed. Feels like a couple of guys hanging out watching the game with jones Jackson and coatsey. I do like when Clement is on.

the whole experience is (frank)ing stale. in-game and at-home. i chose to give up my tix, because i can't stand it for the most part. everything around me annoys the crap out of me and i have no control over it. at least at home, i can turn off the volume, or turn it down, or change the channel.

Yep. Going to games isn't as fun as it used to be.

Switch Rosehill out for Laughton, and I can actually see that line playing more than five minutes. As it is, you're not deploying that fourth line for anything other than facepunching, or maybe a quick breather (if you're especially daring).

I can understand that. And if we were facing Montreal tonight and Toronto next, then I would expect Laughton would be playing.

He will get his time. As a matter of fact, maybe pacing him out is a good idea. That way he doesnt hit that freshman cap, where they are tired after 3/4s of their first season. Theya rent used to playing NHL sized players for the length of the NHL schedule, with the NHL travel. Just a fact of life. This might help him.

Exactly. More balanced ice time for the skill guys and a 4th line that can be utilized at any time during the game

it's a poopload of money, it takes about 6 hours from start to finish to get there, watch the game and get home, and more often than not, the flyers don't play that well when i'm there...so i've chosen to limit the waste of time, money, and aggravation by watching at home.

I think it was more a product of Homer watching the TO/Montreal festivities last night a thought it best to start the kid from this point on.

I totally understand. I don't blame you. When going to a game seems more like a chore, time to stop going.

For all we know Lavi is sending a message to Laughton that just because he's on the roster doesn't mean he's guaranteed ice time and wants him to get hungry. Probably not that deep ha, but would rather see him in there over Rosehill. Hall isn't afraid to stand up when needed.

That's not reality. Because players like Simmonds and Hartnell aren't going to let Orr be Orr. Especially Simmonds. Their courage and integrity will not allow that. They will engage him to stand up to him if need be. And you don't want that. That's why you play Rosehill, and let him deal with Orr if need be.
- MJL

If Simmonds is so fired up to fight, he's not going to settle down and leave the ice for Rosehill to come out of extinction. And if Simmonds isn't on the ice, he will be when the powerplay starts. But Orr won't. And either way, you're not preventing Orr from doing anything dirty. I just don't see how these benefits are anything but a myth.

Love JVR, think he's going to be a stud. However, schenn is a beauty too. It takes defensive dman the longest of any position to develop. Leafs win the trade now but down the road it very well could change. Schenn won't fully develop until he's around 27ish (like adam foote, stevens etc). Gotta love the character, he was 18 years old and fighting guys like chris neil to stick up for teammates. Hope nothing but the best for Luuuuuuuke

I really hope that wasn't it. Laughton's not a shrinking violet, he's got a bit of nasty to his game

At least Rosehill is a step up from Shelley. Just don't get him over Laughton. I'm guessing in a year or two there won't be many rosehill's around anymore.

JVR always starts hot. If he can become more consistent offensively he will exceed expectations imo

The flashy loud poop can get annoying, but it wouldn't bother me if they'd turn the volume down even a notch. Everytime I go, it's oppressively loud. We've got a loud passionate fanbase, the WFC should quit covering it up.

Sorry to steal your thunder here, Bo.

I think that is a fair assessment. If JVR becomes a consistent 30 goal power forward, and Schenn develops into a top pairing shutdown d-man it's a win for both teams. It was a hockey trade in which both teams addressed needs.

So was Couturier when he scored the playoff hat trick against the Pens.

He's not a serviceable player. He's slightly better than Jody Shelley.

If Jay Rosehill couldn't fight, he'd be working at Canadian Tire and playing beer league on the weekends.

- Jsaquella

I think that's a little unfair, and doesn't give Rosehill enough respect for what he can do on the ice...

He'd for sure be playing beer league during the week too, not just on weekends.

It was, in purest terms, a hockey trade. Both teams got a much needed asset. JvR is going to be more flashy and certainly score more goals, but a guy like Schenn is generally on the roster of most teams that win Stanley Cups and make deep playoff runs.

Even if JvR develops more quickly, it should be expected. Defensemen usually take longer, and Schenn has some bad habits to break from when he was tossed into the fire as a kid playing 20 minutes for a bad Leafs team

Yeah, they'd probably have games on Wednesday, at least
