I don't see what the big deal is. Its a 4th line substitution. Its going to happen a lot. Some game Laughton will sit. Some games Rosehill will sit, and maybe some games Hall will sit. Considering what Toronto brings to the table, Rosehill is the better choice to play this game. Laughton will likely be the better choice to play Montreal, Canes, and Panthers. Rosehill might get a service game in with phoenix, then Laughton for Detroit, and Rosehill back for Vancouver...

Joking aside though, I understand not liking goons, but I dont consider Rosehill a true goon. He actually is a serviceable player. Not going to light the world on fire, but isn't going to cripple you. What is the problem with that? He serves his purpose.

I'm not anti-fighting by any stretch, but to be honest if they do put an end to fisticuffs I won't be upset.

Actually, considering what Toronto is bringing to the table, dressing Rosehill is exactly the opposite of what they should do.

You think that the Leafs tougher players are going to not hit Giroux or Voracek because Rosehill is dressed? Do you think that Dion Phaneuf isn't going to clobber Matt Read if he comes into the zone with his head down, just because Rosehill is dressed?

What will happen is, a Flyers skill player will get hit, there will be shoving, then Rosehill and Orr will fight and that will somehow magically keep the other physical and tough players on the Leafs from hitting the Flyers skill guys?

The big deal is, dressing a guy who isn't a NHL caliber player makes your roster weaker.

I'm not anti-fighting by any stretch, but to be honest if they do put an end to fisticuffs I won't be upset.

Hell, I enjoy a good fight that's born out of the emotions of the game.

What I hate is two guys that have the hockey skill of your average bartender or locksmith lining up next to one another on a face off, dropping the gloves, banging knuckles off each other's skulls and having some people believe that event somehow keeps a team's star players from getting run at.

Does it stop Giroux from getting run? No.

That's the whole point. How does fighting Colton Orr equal standing up for your teammate?

Unless Orr is the one that took a run at Giroux, then it's not sticking up for him.

As for the Voracek example, that wasn't the next shift. It was immediately after somebody took a run at Giroux. Rosehill wouldnt have even been on the ice to fight Olesky, because he's not going to be taking shifts with Giroux.

Depends on your defination of servicable. He plays the game well enough that he isnt a hinderance to his team in addition to what he is meant to do. He is a far better player then Jody Shelly.
