In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers and Ryan Callahan’s agent have been in contact in regards to a new contract but that the two sides aren’t believed to be too far along in the process.
Callahan told Brooks that he loves being in New York and wants to stay in New York. He added that he has no problem talking during the season but will put a stop to it if it becomes a distraction or gets to his head.
Brooks says that based on the free agent market, Callahan could likely command offers of seven-years and between $6 and $7 million as a UFA.

I figured Cally for around Dustin Brown's contract, late 5's per year, wasn't thinking 6-7 per. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I hope they can get something done, heart and soul of the team obviously.
