Actually, not really down on Moore. The pick is just a recognition of how Rangers fans are. Rangers fans always need to pick some guy on the blueline to be their boogeyman, and I think John Moore will suffer from expectations that are too high for him this year. I don't think he'll be bad, I just think that he will have some growing pains and struggles (like many young defensemen do), and the fans will get on him. Of course, this all depends on the current whipping boy on the blueline, Michael Del Zotto, having a good year.
- Pete V

I was just joking with you Pete. Juts remember deadline day last year when you weren't happy about the trade. I think that guy on the blueline that might suffer is Stralman. People will expect him to be like Edler when AV was in vancouver. Vanek on the other hand, I want no part of.

Yeah, I agree. My two "x" factors this year were Richards and Kreider, and one of them is already in the minors. Hopefully, things will turnout better for Richards.

I am rooting for him; anyone that was able to scam on Olivia Munn deserves instant respect.

Thanks to the Rangers cap, being as tight as a virgin on prom night, you need not worry about Vanek being a Ranger this season.

That's an understatement. I hated that trade when it was made. I was wrong. Moore and Brassard are much more than I thought they were when the trade was made.

Although, when the deadline comes around, those deals are so heavily pro rated down, that it is easier to fit in big salaries with 20 games left.

Of course they schedule the west coast trip right at the beginning of the season when I can't attend any games!!! That's three straight years!! 2011 because they were in Europe, 2012 because of the lockout and now because I can't afford it!!!

Hopefully the wife and I can take a road trip, maybe to Dallas. Kid lives in Lafayette, Louisiana so maybe that will work.

- gkmkiller

You can't afford it?!? Dude, they play the Ducks next Thursday. You can get a single ticket on StubHub for $27.80, or a pair for $25.60 each. Stay away from Starbucks for a week so you can go to a Rangers game bro. You can find that much money in recycled cans and bottles in your neighborhood. And Rangers fans who know what ticket prices are in the Garden are going to laugh at you when they click this link and find out I'm telling the truth about those prices at the Pond.

But you're right, a road trip to Dallas makes way more sense than the 45 minute drive from Oceanside to the Honda Center and a $30 ticket. I have some great seats and they haven't sold for $70....and this is for opening night. Come on gkmkiller, get to the game!

I think Krieder is already the biggest disappointment. You're right about the fans and the Dman, but it's more likely MDZ feels the wrath of the fans. Moore is a great skater, every bit a good a McDonagh, has a good hard shot. The only flaw may be his physicality.

True but as it stands now, with a healthy roster, the Rangers are going to have to purge a salary or two just to get under the cap.

Vanek's salary at that point, will be minimal, but there will likely be other teams hunting for him that won't have any cap issues.

Should be interesting.

Easy to sit there and judge someone else's financial situation, isn't it. When the wife hasn't been able to get a full time job for three years and we have one in college and one a junior in high school. Sorry bud, I don't do Starbucks and all of the change has been pillaged from the couch cushions.

The wife is set to start a new job soon though it's been delayed thanks to the government shutdown. She was hired by a company that, you guessed it, is a civilian contractor at Camp Pendleton.

I realize you are probably kidding but this is a sensitive issue with me. Once the wife gets back to work we'll be in much better shape in a couple of months with a lot of debt paid off. Until then I have the TV and that's it. If I have to decide whether to make sure we have food on the table versus spending $100 for three tickets and whatever else, I guess I won't be going to Anaheim. Such is life.

Kreider definitely has that label applied to him after the season he had. I think a lot of us also expected him to flourish a bit more in AV's system, but we have to understand that it's going to take adjustment... for everyone. remember we all thought that Miller came into camp out of shape, as was reported, but he seems to have got himself right. a stint in the A will be good for him (Kreider) to start the season

As for X Factors, as much as i hate to refer to them as such, I think that Zucc and Staal were my two x factors going into the pre season, and both have looked in top shape. kreider definitely now seems to be one, ill wait 10 games in to make a decision about Richards b/c Nash looked pretty unassuming last couple weeks as well.

Everything will work out man. Best of luck to you and yours.

On a lighter note, no remodel at the garden next year, so your west cost trip might fall later on in the season.

25 bucks, no wonder why the Ducks Owners were part of tea party group controling the lockout. Then they Turn around and sign Perry and Getz to 8 year, 8 million dollar deals. Blame Henry and Susan Samueli for the team having t trade one of it's best player due to an internal budget.

You were not alone in that sentiment, I hated the trade as well, thought they sold low on Gaborik and I really wanted a 1st round draft pick in June's draft when Gaborik was dealt. However, Brassard was probably the Rangers best player down the stretch and playoffs and I think will be even better this year, Moore looks like a real good defenseman and Dorsett could fill the role left by Prust and he can also score a little. In the end I was wrong as well.

Edit: I remember that day well because I remember yelling about it on here while on the train going to MSG for that game that night against the Pens. I lucked out cause it was the best game they played all year and I was excited to see Clowe play in his 1st game because I always wanted the Rangers to get him, unfortunately now he's a devil (I know NJ paid too much for him and the concussion problems). I believe all of the new guys scored that night except for Dorsett who was hurt.

Appreciate it guys. I didn't mean to turn it into a pity party or anything. I've been through worse times in my life and in many ways my life is damn good right now so I really can't complain. Sure, I may not get to see the Rangers next week because the timing isn't good for me but as I said, maybe something else will work out. Besides, one of these days I'll see a game at the Garden and that will be an awesome moment for me. And at the very least I can afford Center Ice so I won't miss a single Rangers game. I just need to make sure I wake my butt up early enough to go to work so I can leave at 3:30 to make all those 4:00 PM PST starts.

Some of the best seats are at home anyway. I know for you and Kody it's tough to get to see the Rangers in person living out west obviously. Just gotta hope they win that night and you wife get a solid, high paying, low stress job.
