He's earned a spot to begin the season and i'm hopeful. He's a smart kid who knows the stakes. Just hope he's able to find the consistency that has eluded him in the past.

Such a bummer to not be at the UC tonight. At least I get to see Blue Jackets opening night tilt against the Calgary Flames......Yikes. Anyway, Wish I was sitting next to my brother tonight in sec 320.

Always worried about the banner night hangover. God knows the Kings weren't ready for it. I think the Hawks will be better prepared. Plus, with 3 Hawks on Olympic team bubbles, I expect Sharp, Leddy and Saad to go grew gangbusters the first month or two.

THEN they hit a wall - big, emotional nite last nite getting the rings, tonite raising the banner - lose the next 40 minutes, Washington scores 3 or 4. I'm not a fan of Kessel, but if he had Toews as his centerman he'd pot 60 goals a year, every year. Pure goal scorer, a little underrated as a passer. Total dolt personality as far as selling the game. Kane has the elite vision and passing skills not found in many players and of course he sells tickets.

When Zdeno Chara finds out about Kessel's contract, he will do his best to drive the kid's head thru the plexiglass every shift they play against each other.

Actually, it's pretty sad.

Especially excited for tonight's game, even though I'd suspect any of the streaming sites I use probably won't have a feed up to catch the banner raising.

Was there at the UC to watch the last banner go up and it was a one of a kind experience that, unfortunately, didn't end in a W. Naturally I'm hoping the Caps don't spoil the party this time round.

Already helps that there won't be some garbage dwelling free agent pickup like a "Fernando Pisani" or a creature called "Turco" wearing the Indianhead tonight.
