Didn't you just write a blog stating that Vancouver is going to miss the playoffs this year? I think Columbus is going to do much better this year vs last year because they played in the West where defense dominates and if they bring that same mindset to the East they'll find hole much easier in the offensive minded division.

Nope. I said

The one huge caveat to them missing though is that one of either Edmonton or Phoenix has to take it from them. If Vancouver can squeeze in for another year it's going to be in one of the finals spots and on the backs of their defense and goaltending. And hey, King fans can tell you that that isn't the worst way to make it to the playoffs after all...

They have POTENTIAL to miss. Looking at how the Central is laid out...it's going to take Phoenix bumping them or maybe even Dallas if you want to call an outside shot. Edmonton will have to play up to par as well.

What else didn't make sense besides Edmonton finishing ONE SPOT ahead of Vancouver?

I know that's incredibly egregious and all but I'm curious as to what else was so completely farcical that you couldn't follow along.

Toronto ahead of Ottawa? They finally made playoffs for first time in 9 years last season.

Lol, yet another person picking the loldevils to finish last, guess depth and strength between the pipes matter not when you don't have a horribly overpaid forward.

The devils will be interesting. A lot of shot production was lost, and I'm wondering how much of it will be replaced by Jagr and Ryder. I keep hearing how Jagr is slowing down, but his point production is still there. Emery cracks under the Philly goalie curse, Carolina treads water, and NJ could be fighting for a wild card at the end.

Ok, where to begin.
1. Canucks are a great regular season team and will continue to prove it by challenging for the division conference and league championship in the regular season. Playoff remain to be seen.
2. Erik karlsson is the best player in the league and will win the Norris and Hart.
3. Kings beat Ottawa in the final
4. Malkin wins the ART Ros
5. Kesler will be back to beast mode and wins the selke
6. Luongo proves he's the best and wins the vezina while solidifying his spot as team Canada's starter.with torts pulling him if games get out of hand his gaa won't inflate the way AV used to let it

I think Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jonathan Toews, John Tavares, Steven Stamkos, Zdeno Chara, Rick Nash, Alex Ovechkin etc. etc. have something to say about that.

Karlsson is great no doubt, but let's not go crazy here calling him "the best player in the league" yet.

The one item that I totally agree with is the Calder.

I think Colorado made a huge mistake passing on Jones. I think this kid playing with Weber gets Nashville back on track.

You just can't pass up on a defenceman with his size and skill.

It'll be Datsyuk again. Now in front of east coast media 24/7, its a done deal.
- cryptical77

I disagree, only because of how much the NHL seems to love a comeback story. If Kesler stays healthy, and plays his game, he can beat out Datsyuk for the Selke. It's a given though that Datsyuk will be in the top 3.

Karlsson has some of the best advanced stats in the league, not to mention before the injury/ attack he was a machine. smoothest skater in the league with the ability to control possession andthe play every time he's on the ice.

Watch him play,it's insane how good this guy is.

They were a pro-rated 20 points behind the Canucks last season so I'm a little curious how they've closed that gap despite the moves in over paying for Gordon and Ference.

- dutchtouch

Easy, Canucks lose 5 more games, which we know they will in this division. Oilers win 5 more because that's how they trend =20p catch up. BAM, there you have it

I have watched him play and he is very good. Just not the best player in the league YET.
