Dallas Eakins sits in stands with media at morning skate, promises he won't be on ice for skates all season.

ark Spector ‏@SportsnetSpec 3m
Also, Eakins told Oilers players this morning that all morning skates are optional. Rookie and veteran alike.

That's a test.

(frank)! I wanted to see him and Ebs play together tonight. If that last sentence sounded weird, good, cause that's what I was going for.

I have my fingers crossed everything stays the same for a while. I've got tickets for the 12th when they play the toronto maple gays. I'm pretty excited to go watch them live in my awesome eberle jersey.

Nobody can fight like Stortini. I can't believe the bargain price we signed Khabi for!

Few guys have talked about how you see more from up above, not a bad idea I guess. Just go on the PA system if you want to yell at the players

Totally - the guy smacks of a general anyway. Moreover, he's a motherfukkin Navy Seal

Seriously, he reminds of some ex-Navy Seal commando 40 days and 40 nights in torture only to escape, shave his beard and coach our team to prominence.

I'm pretty damn sure I said stuff like that.

The latest one seems to be Lander.
There was a poop-tonne of talk about his attitude, above average compete and full on leadership capabilities just two years ago. Stone Cold 3rd line lock.

Ah well, maybe his path is the slower one.

Should just say no A's if they are going to put that many guys there. I understand 4, but 6?

I think Ebs will have a bounce back year this year... Not saying he was horrible last season, but his broken leg, broken hand, sprained shoulder, mono, herpes, and mad cow did slow him down a little.

Sounds like a standard night out on Whyte Ave.

I think Ebs will shut a number of people up. Do you think we will ever get the respect for some of the Oilers soon?

Leadership is such an overused word. The next time someone mentions leadership, I'm going to lead my foot up their ass. Only cattle and brainless Zorches need to be led.

f-f-f-f-f-f-f-FOUR years.

Oh Dithers, what have you done?

Yeah, CHI fans are a little worried about there back-up but they do have Raanta developing if things get really bad with him.

What a feeling though, when all your concerned about is your back up who you brought back in 'cause he was good in the dressing room.

I think Hall currently has it... Ebs had it before last season, but lost some of it. Any opportunity people have to crap on these young guys, they'll do it. If Hall puts up 70 points this season, I'm sure people will be claiming bust.

Not sure about you all but I bet Yaks pots in 30+ this year... face it if Eakins is going to roll 3 scoring lines- its going to be a touch different than having one scoring line like the last 2 years... (frank) when we are healthy it should be complete mayhem

Culture change, that's another one. How many years have the Oilers been rambling on and on about that now?

Culture is a BS word anyway... It's just something for management to blabber on and on about when they can't think of anything else to say, and they want to fill dead air.

I (frank)ing doubt it... its been a while since we had some players pot 70... the last player to do that was... oh ya Mr (frank)ing clutch himself Jordan Eberle...

Maybe in edmonton culture change was moreso aligned to coaching change

Did youtube removed Eberle's dangle from the season opener against Calgary? That is the best goal he has scored yet, in the NHL.

Yep. Or avoid real talk about a 7 year playoff drought and what can be done to fix it. They have they're place but when it becomes these cycling talking points and platitudes it just becomes...ya meaningless.

haha but I fall for the culture change one right now with Eakins for sure b/c I think he's actually doing some of it. Changing there regimen, revamping the dressing room and so on.
