Wow, you listen to some on this site and you would think the Flyers were the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets! Lets look at how they've actually done since the lockout

05-06 45 26 11 101pts, lost in 1st round to Buffalo
06-07 22 48 12 56pts, finished last in the league
07-08 42-29-11 95pts, lost in Conference Final to Pittsburgh
08-09 44-27-11 99pts, lost in 1st round to Pittsburgh
09-10 41-35-6 88 pts, lost in Stanley Cup Finals to Chicago
10-11 47-23-12 106pts, lost in 2nd round to Boston
11-12 47-26-9 103pts, lost in 2nd round to New Jersey
12-13 23-22-3 49pts, missed playoffs

So lets see, they have made the postseason 6 out of 8 seasons and have had 95 or more points 5 times. They have made it to at least the 2nd round 4 times, the conference finals twice and have made 1 trip to the Stanley Cup finals.

Is that a great record? No, its not. But it's far from a disaster either. In fact, I would say the following 18 teams would be happy to switch the last 8 seasons with Philly:
Buffalo
Tampa Bay
Florida
Montreal
Toronto
Ottawa
NY Rangers
NY Islanders
New Jersey
Columbus
Winnipeg
Colorado
Nashville
Dallas
St. Louis
Edmonton
Calgary
Minnesota

I believe the above 18 have all won fewer playoff rounds than the Flyers over the last 8 seasons.

The issue is they get paid too much and have too much security. The only way to fix it is to tear down the entire thing and start over fresh. There's no one in Congress or running for Congress who would propose a bill where their pay would be cut or cut-off.

Because it was better than Mitt "I help businesses by tearing them apart" Romney and Paul "Let's base all of our laws off of what Jesus wants" Ryan.

can't believe people bought his lies again

Check out the UK's failed austerity measures to see what massive spending cuts do when you're already in a bad recession - they cause another one.

We won two cups in the 70s.

Unfortunately this isn't much of a "team" which is what I think Bill was alluding to in his blog although I don't want to speak for him. I see a fairly disjointed team that has talent and very little cohesion (probably from the turnover). There's every chance they blow chunks and draft in the top ten this coming draft and that's disconcerting to almost everyone who posts on this thread.

Well, only teams like Toronto can sustain that kind of success in a decade-by-decade basis.

bernake has ruined savers, job growth still sucks, the slightest talk of taper can cause a global meltdown, any taper causes people to run away from housing

he's built up a house of cards and it's only a matter of time

you save you get killed by inflation
you put money in the market you'll get killed when wall st. has it's crack taken away from it

And the people that get voted in do the same.

Like I said, the only way to get a real change is to tear down the entire system and reboot. Unfortunately, too many people vote on bigger issues, like Jesus, gun control, and abortion.
