Thats not true. If he is good as people say and want him to be, he will have to develop his offensive game WHILE being thier goto defensive forward much like Jordan Staal had to do in Pittsburgh.
- youarewrong

No, it's going to ruin him and make him into nothing but a 4th line grinder.

The best teams use their best offensive players in offensive situations and leave the majority of the dirty work to role players.

Not saying that Giroux and Couturier shouldn't have defensive zone draws or PK time, but they should be minimized to some degree to preserve their best players.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that. But if Rosehill dresses against Toronto, it's one game. Mountain out of a molehill.

Plus the one game, and I repeat one game where Rosehill plays, is going to be disastrous to Giroux's Season.
- MJL

It will. His 6 minutes of ice time in one game will probably reduce Giroux's offensive game to a level of Vladislav Bulin.

Well we all know what is going to happen. First shift Rosehill is going to go after Kessel. Kessel slashes Rosehill. Rosehill gets penalty, Kessel gets tossed. Great game plan.

Don't forget JVR leaves the bench and gets 10 game suspension. It can happen.

But then we don't have anyone capable of killing penalties.

Plan B. They couldn't coax Kjell Samuelsson out of retirement.

A bunch of overpaid d-men best suited to secondary roles.
Goaltending that is a huge question mark.
Lack of defensive IQ by majority of the forward core.

Could be a very fun ride

Maybe they have been where they are ever since the "new nhl", flirting with inconsistency because they simply arent that good? Overpaying players on hype, and expecting them to do heavy lifting when they arent good enough to do so. Its been a growing trend under senor Paul.

I think the current lineup is chronically overrated, but what do I know.

Doom, gloom, and despair everywhere, and not one regular season game played yet.

This place used to be fun.

Not sure what to expect. This team can fall between 5th and 12th in the Conference. Expect, the unexpected.

Its only generally jokes for the most part tangent.

I agree about the fun though, although I dont know if the doom and gloom is the cause of the lack of fun. I remember that being here even when I originally signed on. In Nutter's "optimistic" days.

I hope you are right. But I don't think this team starts playing well until after the coaching change in November.

I still stand by what I said last season Plind.

They are 2-3 years away, and will need a re-birth of elite talent on that back end to do so.

Would not suprise me in the least if they miss the playoffs this season. Comparing them to a lot of teams in the Eastern Conference, they will be flirting with 8-10 imo. Right where they should be based on the crew put together.

Or they go on some wild run to the cup. If that happen I'll pull out my pubes, and put peanut butter on my head.
