Is anyone else concerned that this new Kessel contract might mess up our future if the cap doesn't skyrocket next season?

We still have to re-sign Dion, try for Franson and in 2 seasons get Kadri to re-sign. Not to mention whoever else there might be.

Leafs wont even make the playoffs this season so what good is it signing Kessel to 8 mill for 35 goals

You forget that we got rid of Bryz, dude was a pylon between the pipes and our all of our defense was injured for at least 3/4 of the season besides Schenn and missed the playoffs by 5 pts, I think if it was a full season they were in, There is a reason we havent missed the playoffs but twice in the last 18 years

habs were 15th in the east two seasons ago, and got absolutely crushed by the sens in the playoffs...not much to gloat about

The comments about the Leafs not making the playoffs are great.

I think all fans would agree that, on paper at least, the Leafs are better than

Tampa,Buffalo, Florida.

So the Leafs have to be better than the Sens and habs to be guarenteed a spot in the playoffs. I personally think we are but I'm biased.

If they're better than 1, there's a highly likely chance they're in. If were 5th in the division, there's still a chance Leafs are in and will probably have an epic 1st round matchup with Pittsburgh.

But, that's why you play the games. Should be a crazy season with the olympics and everything. This day is going to dragggggg

I'm not concerned at all. This is what I expected his contract to be. I worry moreso about the Phaneuf number.

I always thought that guy was under-rated. He was a great 5-6 guy. He took way too much heat in Toronto - and elsewhere.

But wow, did he ever look terrible in the exhibition games this year against Toronto. His footspeed was always bad, but it looks like it has completely disappeared.
