Kessel is worth whatever people are willing to pay for him, and he would get $8 million on the open market under the current CBA, maybe even more if he finally cracks 40. whether or not he lives up to it is a different matter, but at 8 x 8 the Leafs are not overpaying.

That's my thoughts. The guy FINALLY tweeted back like 2 hours later saying "giroux is a lot younger than Kessel"...no he's 1 year. He pointed out Giroux is better defensively, which is a fair point and that he's a center...which really shouldn't make a difference in my opinion. And he's stuck on the "he only cracked 65+ points once", last year had it been a full season he was on pace for 89pts, the year before was 82 and the year before was 64 (so incredibly close to 3 times, 2 of which are way over 65+) meanwhile Giroux only did it 3 times (a 76, 93 & last season on pace for 82).

it's not a statement that can be determined by future events.

the bozak that joined 3-4yrs ago has improved each year. it's fact.
maybe kessel has something to do with that, but maybe bozak had something to do with kessel's improvement as well.
he was on pace for points in mid 50's last yr... if kessel and JVR have better years again, it's not unrealistic to think bozak could crack 60pts....

end of the day, i don't like bozak as 1C, but it is what it is, and he has shown improvement yr after yr

Hopefully this year we have Line 1A and Line 1B just like the year Grabo/Mac/Kule scored all them points and almost or did take over the #1 line role.

if yuo think he is there to provide ioffense, yeah.. you wont be happy. if you understand he's there to create space and wear down the opposition along the boards then you will be happy with it

agree on that. but i said what i did because of his age. i have no doubt that for the first year, 2, maybe 3, he'll be that player. it's those years in his mid-30s that i question. but who knows, maybe the cap will be $85 million by then and $5 million won't be a devastating hit.
